I don't think we're on the same page... turns out it's Gene Clark I was squinting at!

01.12.2025 16:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Today's chazzer booty, Β£3.
Original Chapter 1 pressing in great shape - it regularly sells for Β£100+ on Discogs, etc (but I'll be hanging onto it).
I've never heard a Pete Brown record I didn't like - his LPs with Battered Ornaments and Piblokto! are all bona fide Desert Island Discs 'round 'ere...
Got 3/4. I don't recognise the top right one, gimme a clue!

Didn't win obvs.
Charity shop gold.
30.11.2025 12:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's a chazzer regular 'round here and definitely worth a quid or two.
30.11.2025 12:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I played this track to death back in them olde days:

30.11.2025 00:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd visit hoping to find a Bowie LP I hadn't heard (this was 1980ish) and end up leaving with something by Linton Kwesi Johnson or Stockhausen because I'd seen their names mentioned in NME and liked the sleeves...
30.11.2025 00:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You're very lucky... 5 days a week I drag my weary bones to my current gulag. But I'm planning on reducing my hours next year and then looking for a new home further out of the city... I'm too old for this urban sh*t!
29.11.2025 23:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think my copy must've been a birthday present 'cos I wasn't crazy about the singles off it, they seemed a bit tame compared to some of the other electronic music I'd begun listening to... D.A.F. for instance.
Our local library had a good vinyl section which was a lifeline for home-tapers like me.
Wish I could've found a higher res version. Oh well.

29.11.2025 18:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'll find it online and give it a whirl.
That cassette looks lovely!
My fave Ure-Vox LP is Rage In Eden so Quartet came as a bit of a shock and was a huge disappointment at the time - but I was already listening to Cabaret Voltaire and Fad Gadget so all was not lost...
Fad Gadget
The Gun Club
Xmal Deutschland
Sonic Youth
Big Black
Didn't know about that.
29.11.2025 13:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Johnny Marr!!
29.11.2025 13:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0GM's production pushes too many of the interesting sounds into the background - apparently his hearing had begun to deteriorate as well? In parts it's like a limp pop remix of what was probably a decent LP, though I suspect they'd probably run their natural course by the time it was released?
29.11.2025 13:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I used to use wax plugs, the ones you mould before inserting, but I eventually got an ear infection from using them. I use foam ones now - they're definitely not perfect but they mean I'm less likely to be kept awake by arsehole neighbours when I'm trying to drop off.
Braying prats p*ss me off.
Is it a residential street you live on or one that's been taken over by student HMOs?
Earplugs probably saved my sanity tbh!
Ridiculous. And it's not as if my friends in Manchester don't have enough trouble with trains already.
29.11.2025 12:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nigh on 40 years since I last listened to this and to say I'm "surprised" by how much I'm enjoying it would be *something* of an understatement - it must be my age?
George Martin's bland production did them no favours and turned me right off the band at the time.
"Two boiled eggs."
I was there too, my then-gf lived in Bristol at the time. What I remember most is the long, winding version of "Blue Is The Frequency" that RTX ended their set with - I'd love to hear it again. Am I misremembering or were Fridge / Four Tet bottom of the bill too... or was that another Fleece gig?
29.11.2025 11:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In the bad old days I would've pushed my way into their house in my dressing gown, knocked the hi-fi over, and slammed their front door so hard while leaving that the glass shattered.
Nowadays: ear plugs.
The "Dammit Marjorie" school of acting.
29.11.2025 00:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nigel Planer is the best thing about it, from the little I remember.
