Nice to see a Corn Bunting in my garden today. The first time since the Winter of 1982/83 when I had 100+ regularly sitting in the trees here. The farmer had planted the field in front of the house with neeps and they were feeding in there. The same has happened this year. #birdingscotland

I've had EL 10X42 for years, great bins and never had a problem with the eyecups.

At last I have managed to photograph a Woodcock in my garden. I spotted this one before it flew away. #birdingscotland

They used to turn up here but I haven't seen any for 2 years now.

Some spectacular birds in Thailand.
Nordmann's Greenshank, Terek Sandpiper, Eared Pitta, Chinese Blue Flycatcher and Kalij Pheasant were just a few.

Just back from Thailand with the aim of seeing Spoon-billed Sandpiper, one of the rarest birds in the world. It was well worth it 😊.

Following on from @andycarroll1973.bsky.social I came across this photo that I took at Rattray in April 1984. A Kentish Plover and amazingly one has not been seen in NE Scotland since!

I don't often twitch but the 15minute journey went fine 😉. It's still there today 🙂

After years of trying we finally saw John Coe and Aquarius off Lossiemouth yesterday. Long distance but great to see. Top of my bucket list sorted.😊

I managed to get a photo of Comet Lemmon this evening. It's the greenish blob between the two bright stars in the middle of the photo. #cometlemmon

I went as far as Golspie, checked all the birding sites on my phone, had my lunch and headed home, very disappointed but not surprised. One day---I hope.

Any further news? I've got as far as Inverness.
