I very hated seeing her on screens while going through airport security, so realizing upon reading this post that I won't have to do that anymore is a nice moment in the day.

I have various approaches depending on the class, but I always say that any student can talk to me if they think I'm mistaken in my judgment that work was AI-produced, though I'll be asking them very specific questions about it. But yeah I detest the "cop" dynamic--it's the opposite of how I teach.

The bitterest pill about AI cheating for me is that AI'ed assignments take much longer to grade than honest assignments because they turn grading into an investigation.

So when the student spends less time, I spend more. Fun!

Next season will have its own unique joys and horrors, as ever. (Though this least season was one of the more joyless ones in recent memory.)

Yes, cherry picked. I read the article. You picked the worst opinion poll number and did not mention the passage I cited, so I chose to do that while pointing out that public opinion shifted against the war in part because of the efforts of the anti-war movement (not elected Dems).

organizing against the war, and public opinion did move. It's remarkable that we had around a third of the public (that's a good approximation) not sign on to the war push. Had the Democratic Party actually opposed it, those numbers would have been higher. Unforgivable by 2002-03 Dem leaders.

I was closely involved (as an ally) with a leftist anti-war/anti-sanctions/anti-IRI activist group of Iranians and Iranian-Americans during his presidency. He imprisoned (one of my friends fled Iran to avoid that fate) or killed a bunch of dissidents and almost certainly stole the 2009 election. 1/2

My premise is based on reality, which is a dangerous thing to reject. The government of Iran is awful and murderous. So are those of the US and Israel. Most of us know that. It was the latter two who started this new deadly conflict, which has already killed children. I would hope that bothers you.
