If you're interested in pushing the no DLC category further, there is a misty peaks OoB exploit that you can do to get high rank materials at the start of the game, which lets you craft a GS with high rank stats (Lacerator Blade). It's probably still slower in DLC runs tho x.com/gadgethunter...
