It was more an idea in my head that I've had floating around for a while. Whoever created these hypothetical robots clearly was dedicated to deconstructing human reproduction and sexuality to the nth degree. I guess the most analogous depiction came from Bladerunner 2049.

It is admittedly a question of language. The crux of the hypothetical is that the only meaningful difference between humans and robots is their genesis. After their ancestors were created in a lab, robots reproduced just like humans.

(By the way, #MurderBot was awesome.)

What if the robots were for all practical purposes the same as humans? They ear, sleep, and reproduce in all the same ways as humans. Does that change your answer?

Biologically, it’s clearly a human by another name. But maybe sociologically speaking it still would be a robot.

I once had the weirdest shower thought, and it’s still in my wheelhouse as a potential story idea.

It’s not even that writing is supposed to be hard work. It can be, but it isn’t always, and rejecting gen-AI isn’t about gatekeeping, or the idea that your writing only has value if you put some objective amount of blood, sweat, and tears into it.

I’m admittedly not published yet outside of work that has been narrated on YouTube years ago. (Which is kind of a published work, I suppose.) Being an attorney, though, I am aware of copyright infringement lawsuits that have won for the authors. The Anthropic lawsuit is one to look at.
