If there are no Emerald Empress fans left on earth, then I am dead

And then give me Galadriel and the rest of the white council curb stomping him one last time and sending him crying back to Mordor. Would make for a fun season finale.

What I'm saying here is give me Charlie Vickers doing his best Phantom of the Opera, a heavily disfigured, heartbroken Sauron, wearing a big black cloak, standing atop the great ruin of Dol Guldur, crying about how Middle-earth SHOULD'VE been his, if only the free peoples would stop defying him!

Also it would be cool to see him in a cutaway, in his diminished form as "the Necromancer" in Dol Guldur. Him and Morfydd's Galadriel facing off one final time...

Remember that in the books Sauron wasn't some wispy spirit, but actually had a hideous physical form, and was missing a finger.

Idk I'm thinking, if you really stick to the books' POV characters, and don't get bogged down in expanding the lore or justifying extra action scenes...

The Hobbit (assuming it's the 8 episode model) would only need one season. LOTR might need three or four seasons.

With the release of Hunt for Gollum being the final "test" of those films' enduring legacy. Nothing will ever replace those movies, but a TV adaptation doesn't have to. It can tackle the books from a different angle.

PJ made six action films. Amazon could do something very different.

Alls I'm saying is... within the next 20 years, a smaller scale TV adaptation of The Hobbit and LOTR, that sticks closer to the books and places more emphasis on dialogue and character, might be more welcome than we think.

I believe we're in the last hurrah of PJ nostalgia now.

10.03.2026 12:44 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And it's not like that loud minority hasn't already made themselves known already... I don't think it matters WHAT age Amazon chooses to adapt, second or third, those people are never gonna stop being insufferable. So might as well go all the way.

There's definitely more of an appetite for an earnest and more expansive adaptation of the LOTR books than, say, another Harry Potter adaptation. And Amazon do have the TV rights to The Hobbit and LOTR. So the only thing really stopping them is fear of angering fans of the PJ films.

Bring back Charlie Vickers as a disembodied, creepy Sauron voice that taunts Frodo throughout the series, idk

The concept of seeing these two, 2000 years later. Daniel Weyman has done so much to "earn" the Gandalf role, seeing him with Bilbo and Frodo would be full circle. Plus bringing Rory Kinnear back to earnestly adapt "The Old Forest," "In the House of Tom Bombadil," and "Fog on the Barrow-downs"...

Is it weird that I really want to see Amazon tackle a TV series adaptation of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, post ROP?

It'll never happen but the idea of seeing Morfydd's Galadriel and Rob's Elrond, 2000 years later, speaking dialogue directly taken from the books, appeals to me.

Finally seeing Shadowcat kick ass would've added a whole extra dimension to The Wolverine film, and probably would've made it a lot more memorable.

If I had a nickel for every time this happened... etc

It will forever bug me that the Wolverine solo film featured a completely different, younger, platonic version of Yukio. Once again, they majorly altered a character instead of just letting the obvious person (Kitty Pryde) take her natural spot in the story.

It's the Dead Wife Cinematic Universe, aka mid to late 2010s lazy writing

See, this is the reason I got my Bachelor's. I knew it wouldn't make me more employable. I wanted to become more immersed in the Humanities and develop a greater understanding of the things I love. I refuse to believe I wasted my time just because it didnt immediately grant me a "trade"

It's one of the most creative gameplay narrative systems I've ever engaged with! It's so good that you can have fun without even progressing the main story. Its enemy A.I is just THAT good.

I'm still encountering orcs I've never seen before, even now...

I couldn't care less if Isildur is a Ringwraith or if Shelob has a sexy human form. If you create a fun, fast-paced video game with a rewarding and fun "gameplay loop," you've made great game. End of discussion.

BTW it's funny how like a year ago if you asked me what I thought of the "Middle-earth: Shadow" games I'd have rolled my eyes.... now Middle-earth: Shadow of War is unironically one of my favourite games OF ALL TIME.

"Book accuracy" isn't everything, folks! A piece of media can work on its own.

Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.

I've had more time to think about it and now I feel even worse cause I still don't know what I could've done.
