๐Ÿ’ช The WMO has published the first IG3IS Good Practice Guidance for Estimating National-Scale GHG emissions using atmospheric observations.

It supports WMOโ€™s mission to strengthen Earth system monitoring and provide high-quality info for mitigation.

If the Government's top priority is productivity, slashing the CSIRO budget does not make sense Research and development is one of the major drivers of productivity and the CSIRO has a long track record of making productivity enhancing breakthroughs.

Budgets are about priorities. The idea is to tax things you want less of & subsidise things you want more of

In Australia we spend $14 billion per year on fossil fuel subsidies & we are cutting science jobs at CSIROโ€ฆ

As i said, budgets are about priorities #climate

We saw it with big tobacco, we saw it with the fossil fuels industry. When their own internal research showed the harm from their product, the defunded the research and attacked independent researchers coming to the very same conclusions.

This is figure 1, which shows distribution of flux tower sites across artificial light intensity in North America and Europe.

The findings of a study in Nature Climate Change show that artificial light at night disrupts the fundamental energetic constraints on ecosystem metabolism, warranting the inclusion of light pollution in global change and carbonโ€“climate feedback assessments. go.nature.com/44cCKWm ๐Ÿงช

Now, instead of imagining the plastic floating out in the ocean for hundreds of years, making a mess and endangering marine life (yuck), imagine more and more CO2 pollution floating up in the atmosphere for hundreds of years, making a mess and endangering all forms of life (super yuck)

It's *scientific publishing*.

Record-breaking electric truck delivery beats diesel equivalent The stakeholders said the electric prime mover was able to reduce the total trip time by 20 minutes each way compared with the diesel equivalent.

โ€œโ€˜E-Trucking is the futureโ€™? Nah mate โ€” itโ€™s already here. A 36-tonne Windrose just smashed a 480 km delivery on one charge, ~70 % cheaper than diesel and ~12 % quicker, shaving about 40 minutes off the trip. This is why E-Trucking is NOT the future โ€” itโ€™s TODAY. #EV #LFP #EnergyTransition #Lithium

โ€˜Horrificโ€™ mass koala starvation hits Victorian island Distressed locals have told of desperate koalas falling from trees and trying to eat vegetation such as pine needles.

This is deplorable.

Koalas suffer and ecosystems are trashed, because the Victorian government won't take sufficient proactive measures to prevent koala starvation.

The issue has been known for months, and such crises are predictable and preventable.

Health care is responsible for up to 7% of Australiaโ€™s greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing the use of disposable products could reduce this footprint.

People signing the Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air at the UN

Yesterday, history happened at the UN: For the first time hundreds of orgs signed a global pledge declaring that healthy indoor air is a human right.

Healthy indoor air is a key tool for preventing pandemics, building climate resilience, and increasing health equity. We need it everywhere!

The Dark Ages of health care in the rest of the developed world is the present-day reality in the USA.

We docilely accept that if a person gets cancer, they'll likely lose their house or their life savings. Any threat to impose that system elsewhere would be met with fierce rebellion. We are sheep.
