almost done with my ng+ playthough for shf. PLEASE play it a second time, there’s new cutscenes, story is different, there are even new notes that elaborate on context

i’m going for ng+2 after this for the tru ending i’m so invested in this story

i’m absolutely haunted by the new silent hill, i feel sick and sad but it was so beautiful and so different

hi, shortly after this i slept for 3 hours and resumed gameplay which just so happened to be the ritual chapter and i am as disgusted as i hoped to be. let me include that playing on ps5 with haptic feedback is definitely and more disgusting experience.

finished shf about an hour ago and yeah man that one is not a happy story at all

i have more thoughts but i wanted to finish my current impression with hope that this last bit of the story wraps up her family troubles and how she overcomes them. i think that would seal the deal for me.

very mild spoilers for the next part, but everyone uses Hinako in some way (even shu, it’s “his” partner after all)

i was expecting more family related troubles and less of the the friend circle and feeling like people see you as a puppet and pawn.

the combat is simple and fun but punishing if you don’t stay prepared. i like that they push to be non-combative as well. “pick and choose your battles” fits the theme of the story so far. like most of the sh games, i have also been trying to make the connections btwn monsters and the main chara

i do miss the western nostalgia and feel of that in particular, but maybe i’m just not at a point of the game where they felt like mentioning it

one of my favorite takeaways is that this silent hill has the oldest timeline and the insinuations of it having begun/existing elsewhere. Every other silent hill references the town or takes you there in someway.

it feels just enough like a silent hill game while also being it’s own perfect step forward for the series. the

pacing is nice, music and visuals are beautiful and haunting, the time period it takes place in along with the relevancy to cultural norms at the time is a nice touch. it’s not as gore-y as i thought it would be.

there are people who didn’t interpret haurchefant’s feelings toward wol as admiration and love and i have trouble believing people didn’t read him gifting you a chocobo he raised, after you won a tournament style battle he was rooting for your life in, as an engagement ring

there were a few pick your character type options in endwalker (like the nightly bedroom visit before saving the universe and beyond) it would just… take up a lot of time and space to have that type of thing (but i do think it would make the game more profitable)

i’m reaching but i still think they totally could implement an optional love interest system with npcs for ffxiv like in dragon age/mass effect
