THE EPSTEIN REGIME BOMBED THIS!

Golestan Palace in Tehran, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its "crystal palace" effect, specifically within the Mirror Hall (Talar-e Ayeneh).

Christ. War is the most expensive thing in every way. We are squandering a good life for all for the benefit of a few.

Dudes would a kill kid, too, if they felt that he'd grow up to be a threat. There's a tomb in Cairo thought to hold such a boy, buried there by an adoptive Mamluk uncle.

I spent some time in Cairo documenting the architecture of the Mamluk Empire and being sultan was a decidedly high-risk job. There were two guys with long tenure and yet the average sultan lasted less than two years before being killed or dying from another cause. Lots of assassinations.

I grew up in the Cold War in a military town and I've never heard this phrase.

History is complicated and all but unleashing Chiang did not, in fact, work out well.

Unfortunately, FIFA is the most corrupt enterprise on Earth without the name "Trump" on it. That Infantino and Donald would find one another was written in the stars.

Trump is now realizing that merchants and ship owners have to pay for insurance for vessel and cargo and that premiums have spiked. He plans to do something about the increase, which means that those higher premiums might as well be permanent.

"This was part of a longstanding strategic plan that the president coincidentally put into motion at the exact same time that the Israelis did. Totally his idea."

Netanyahu on how Israel is different from Iran: "Here's the difference ... these mass murderers in Tehran target civilians."

Netanyahu is wanted for crimes against humanity, including the murder of between 75,000 and 186,000 civilians, at least 20,000 children or babies.

Not the most important thing but what an absolute "GRAPHIC DESIGN IS MY PASSION" level of logo work. It's clearly AI and it bothers no one near Trump that the image only shows half of the globe. Not even that -- Alaska and Hawaii, you're on your own, apparently.

It feels somewhat fair when right-wing misogyny eats one of its own, but I would rather not get encourage it generally.

1979, IIRC, traveling was just about the least romantic thing you could do, based on my trips. Hot oil orgies and full frontal nudity would not have saved this show.

As I watch footage of explosions in Beirut and dust clouds towering above apartment blocks in Tehran, I keep coming back to something that I witnessed back in the summer of '04, during my first tour in Iraq. But first, let's start with a question:

Have you ever heard someone wail?

I think that whether a country is Arab or not has to do with, outside the Gulf Arab states, the mechanics of conquest and colonization.

03.03.2026 17:03 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Conversion to Islam and Arabic was not compulsory, at least in Egypt, where I lived and the Islamic history of which I know well, and took place over hundreds of years. Clearly you don't need to be Arab to be Muslim and there are Arabs of all religions and none.

03.03.2026 17:02 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

"Arab" is a language and culture uniting people who were mostly non-Arab before the seventh century, when the Gulf Arabs conquered the Middle East and North Africa. For instance, before CE 674, the Egyptians had an entirely different language and culture than it does now.

To all those colleague who told me repeatedly over the past year that Europe would never, ever move towards any sort of stand-alone military alliance or nuclear capacity--a reminder that we all need to unleash our political imaginations to even begin to grasp the world we live in today.

AIPAC should be a litmus test for Democrats ahead of the 2026 elections. It's primary season. There's time to pressure them right now. There's no reason why any Democrat is still willing to take money from the pro-Israel group funded by GOP billionaires and extremists.
