Okay, it was incredible. A truly intelligent way to make animation, with subtle cinematographic language (seriously, some shots could be analyzed for hours). We needed it. Also, I wonder if KoG was inspired by Gunnm (by Yukito Kishiro) cause it's very similar (and I love it !)

It's bat season again 🦇

Actually ☝️🤓 there's a simple explanation (I'm French btw). It's from a misinterpretation of the frankish appellation "Cawa sorix", which means "owl-mouse", that turned into "Calva sorix". Calva meaning "bald", that's why we say now "chauve souris".

It's funny to me that the French name for Bats doesn't reference flying at all. Just "Chauve-souris", or "Bald mice"
