I hated my Big Law career but stayed so I could achieve FIRE in 7 years. It came at the expense of my joy, but I have no regrets. Kristine Wu strategically saved and invested to retire early from her Big Law job, embracing the FIRE movement and a new, fulfilling lifestyle.

I never made nearly enough to do something like this as fast as she did. My first job out of college only paid $35k. But that said, I wish I had the discipline to have tried a version of it.

Landlords provide a service. If you think I’m wrong, then don’t rent. Go buy your own property. If you can’t then that’s different problem.

If you think you shouldn’t pay for housing, then your problem is not landlords. Your problem is our version of capitalism.

3) Not all tenants pay. That can ruin some landlords financially if they are counting on that money to pay the property mortgage.
4) For many landlords, it took a lot of work to be able to acquire and maintain the rental property. It wasn’t given to them.

It’s simple.
1) Not all landlords are the same. I’m not currently one, but have been and have friends that are.
2) Being a landlord involves significant financial risks. Not all tenants treat the properly well and that can costs the landlord.

I agree with everything before the word “unlike”. No need to pit one against the other. They can both exist in the same space.
