We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

Ireland used to respect the UN Sec Gen. Now she pretends not to hear him.

We've had a "housing emergency" declared since 2018.

Since then we've seen what genuine emergency responses look like β€” during the pandemic and during the Ukrainian refugee emergencies.

Normal laws were set aside, emergency measures were swept in. Emergency measures like we need now for housing.

That’s called being part of a community. Ireland is a small place. If this sort of thing is illegal, then the law is being broken all the time. It’s not illegal, it’s just life.

320,000 customers weren't able to pay their energy bills last year

When asked why households pay more for energy than data centres, Minister Chambers said our view wasn't supportive of economic growth.

When will Government put the needs of Irish citizens over the interests of big businesses?

I wish it were true that "no one is above the law". But while the City of London acts as laundromat for the world's dirty money, as almost all fraud and waste crime go unprosecuted, as no one has gone to jail for the financial crash or the poisoning of our rivers, this is manifestly untrue.

I was at a party and few years ago when this discussion came up. The only opponents of UBI in the room were the people who said they themselves would "abuse" it.
They assumed the rest of us are as lazy as they are so they'd prefer that nobody has it. It's nonsense.

Blackpool residents fear of flood risk after culled trees left along riverbank Tonnes of timber 'ready to flow down the river'

Who did this? If not the ESB, who? Even if the Blackpool flood scheme were in place these trees would likely be swept up against the new proposed trash screen in the Blackpool Retail Park. This area is also a β€˜Landscape Preservation Zone’ NE3 #cork www.irishexaminer.com/news/munster...

Shannon, Ireland for RnR. It is hard work deporting people in chains, some to countries they have never set foot in. But it has its rewards.

Ireland's government is terrified to stop this trade.

Scientists thought they understood global warming. Then the past three years happened. The fastest warming period since 1880 occurred in the past 30 years, according to a Washington Post analysis of NASA data.

We don't know what's happening, but there's no good news here. As long as we keep burning fossil fuels, the world will continue to become more dangerous and chaotic.

If you drive your diesel car 100 miles it will cost between Β£5 & Β£6 in fuel tax (For the UK. Similar for Ireland)

If you fly 1000 miles, it will cost about Β£0 in fuel tax.

That's how committed we are to fighting climate change.

Data centres are critical infrastructure powering the modern digital economy. With the right policy settings and renewable generation, Australia can position itself as a leader in clean digital infrastructure - creating jobs, improving grid resilience, and driving innovation across the energy system.

Just so its clear: data centres are not "critical infrastructure".

They are Mystery Factories that can perform inscrutable computation for any digital output, from crypto scams to child abuse material to hospital databases. The broad label just becomes a wide door for harm to run through.
