I get the frustration because Dems should have gotten more. But this pain belongs 100% to Trump & the GOP. They WANT to health care more expensive and unobtainable for tens of millions. Democrats want to make it more affordable. Maybe Dems could have gotten more, but the die was cast 1 year ago.

I really like the idea of a large lower house where each representative personally knows a good chunk of his or her constituents. It's a half measure between direct democracy and typical representative democracy-- each house member stands for 700,000+ people.

One route could be to split the houses thusly. Upper house is a full time job, w/ staff, salaries. They hold hearings, write legislation, develop the budget. But then it has to pass the lower house as well, who come in once a month or whatever for vote-a-ramas. Simply acting as the People's Voice.
