It’s devastating for staff affected. I hope their pubs not included in the sale will get taken over by decent Indy Beer taproom operators instead of corporate BrewCos

Overall the craft beer scene is stronger without BrewDog. It’s a saturated market and if this allows space for the good guys. Great!

When they wanted to, BrewDog could brew some great small batch beers. Black Heart is a better stout than G. Lost is better than most macro lagers, but not as good as Camden Hells

Overall, most BrewDog releases since 2021 have been nonsense. The Indy Beer scene is better off without them

It’s ok to say there is too much emphasis on set pieces. But you can’t also say keepers are too protected and defenders hold in the box too much!

The consequence of not protecting keepers and allowing more holding would be set pieces become even more powerful

Tactical voting hasn’t played a part in the by election result. The combined Labour and Green vote was 24k. Reform got 10k

There is no mathematical way to split the Labour and Green vote to allow Reform to win

Voters simply preferred Green to Labour while Reform never had sufficient support

This might be different. Corbyn’s coalition, like Starmer’s 2024, felt like a coalition of convenience

The Greens don’t have the numbers or β€œMomentum” but I do feel if this is the start of a movement, those part of it share closer values than the previous examples

Every so often in politics (like in football) you get moments of hope. This Green success feels like one but we mustn’t forget what happened in 2017

We all felt Corbyn wiping out May’s majority was a pivotal moment but progressives weren’t prepared for the onslaught of the right wing media

27.02.2026 18:29 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I’ve not seen Starmer’s letter but considering the Greens have pulled in voters from white British, Muslim and Jewish people, I really don’t see how sectarianism is appropriate at all

The kit clash in this Southampton - QPR game is ridiculous. No idea what was going on in the scramble at that corner

Unemployment at a 5 year high, wage growth is down and yet corporate profits continuing to grow

Someone is making money from this economy but it’s not workers, and it’s not consumers either

Now to be clear in case some Reform bots are reading. I’m not asking media to fact check bigoted pub bores. But yes, if you have a high profile, like a billionaire, it’s obviously a public service to correct their lies

16.02.2026 13:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is what important. One consequence of freedom of speech is it allows billionaires to humiliate themselves in public

While I don’t think it’s right for the media to correct people’s views. If they have told a blatant lie, all media companies should be obliged to clearly point this out

16.02.2026 13:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Ratcliffe’s comments obviously were abhorrent. From a freedom of speech perspective, dickhead billionaires can express their bigoted comments in the same way the public bore can

What can and must be called out is the factual inaccuracies. UK population clearly did not grow by 12m in 5 years

Southern geography confuses a lot of people. I remember the outcry when Bishop Stortford was put in the National North

In fact their trip to Gateshead was a shorter journey than if they were playing Truro in the South

A lot of the Football Tories on Facebook ridiculing our away support need to actually look where Bournemouth is on a map. Even our β€œlocal” derby at Brighton is 100 miles each way

Northern and Midlands clubs can often get trains for midweek games. We don’t have that option in the south

I’m glad he’s gone, but as with ousted Tory PMs, the fear is who comes next

In fact β€œousted Tory PM” is a good metaphor for McSweeney given his policies and control over the government

Only thing lazy here is constant narrative. At my work place so many deadlines missed due to people having to commute when they can stay online later in the evening at home.

It’s more important to hit office attendance targets that delivering to clients πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Surely β€œcorporate” will grasp this one day

I commute four hours a day to work in the office - Gen Z aren't lazy Lily-May Edwards travels two hours each way from north Wales to Liverpool to work in the office.

As a society we have got to start accepting the idea that work ethic is not defined by how many hours you sit on a bus / train to work

Let’s judge people by the amount of work they do whether at home or in office rather than how much they spend on public transport. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The β€œLabour Right” have always tried to take the moral high ground against the left by claiming they would make difficult decisions in the national interest

Obviously it’s that’s always been bollox. Finally the cat is out the bag with this Mandelson scandal. Naive to think he’s the only one

I kinda feel #afcb might finish the window a little weak on the left. Cover for Soler and a lack of right footed left wingers

Overall I’m comfortable. It’s not good business to sign long term contracts to cover short injuries. We have LW options. Focus on the summer rather than January panic buys

I don’t mind queuing at the bar but it should be along the bar not single file out from the bar

The reason queues exist is all the people crowding the bar drinking meaning less space for people to get served. This favours taller and louder people who can get bar staff attention.

It’s exactly the same with the WFH v RTO debate. Elder generations didn’t have the option to work from home in their day, so since they shout the loudest, flexible working policies shown to have worked, and benefited young families in particular, have been abandoned

Can South Cambridgeshire council do five days' work in four? Staff at one local authority are doing fewer hours for the same pay. How is it working out?

So basically the 4 day works but the BBC managed to find some OAPs who disagreed. In many ways this is a metaphor for how our country is run - ignore evidence of things that might actually bring benefits and make decisions on gut feel and anecdotes www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Findoutnow is a League 2 standard pollster and this is a sample size of 143. Not nearly credible at this stage

I still think the tactical choice is Greens here but the anti-Reform majority will need to keep an eye on developments before deciding

Ban phones throughout the school day, Phillipson tells teachers The education secretary says phones should not been seen during lessons, breaktimes or lunchtime.

I’m really not sure this is the answer. Smart phones are a way of life in 2025. Living in denial of this fact isn’t going to help children

Obviously they can’t be playing games in class but they can be a learning aid. If we have Airplane Mode why not School Mode? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Greens must now be in with a great chance of winning the Gorton by election now. And if they do that’s significant as it will show reluctant Labour loyalist voters that Greens can win up and down the country and switch votes confidently at the general election

Yes exactly. I think they were just trying to slag off G (which isn’t my favourite but drinkable enough) by using lager as a generic insult

I’ve had some lovely red / amber lagers in the US of all places

A bit of patience is needed for the Rayan announcement. It’s a lot easier to hop on a flight from Europe, sign the contract then go back and sort out your belongings than from Brazil

I doubt he’ll even be in UK until at least Sunday with the announcement maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. #afcb

I don’t have any objections to those who drink real ale. I enjoy a fair bit myself. It’s just those who are too precious to try anything else

And please. You didn’t actually think Budweiser Dark is anything to do with America! You might even find it on cask of you know where to look πŸ˜‰

Some real ale weirdos on my FB saying Guinness is shite as it tastes like a β€œblack larger”

In fact black lager is a style of beer enjoyed for hundreds of years in Europe and is almost certainly superior to whatever you are drinking. Definitely worth trying a Budweiser Dark or Kostritzer
