Introduced Papi Lobos to Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal. I look over and he's RIVETED. The show beat out the ADHD urge to multi-task

Genuinely, fell in love with him more because we both cried during the episode "Coven of the Damned".

Writing Tip:
Poke holes in your own story. Don't baby it, because your critics and readers won't. Be tough on your narrative, while still being fair to yourself. You want to find those plot holes before your readers do, so put your story through the narrative wringer.

How will this play out when multiple people are in front of the tag? If I am out with my white partner, and he gets X for one price and I got X for another then that seems like a civil rights issue.

This Is Your Brain On Uber This week we feature Keith Chen, a behavioral economist at UCLA and the head of economic research at Uber. Keith explains why surge pricing makes us nuts and discusses our weird economic choices.

(6/11) Uber tracks battery life. Former exec Keith Chen noted in 2016 that users with low battery are statistically more likely to accept surge pricing. Uber says it doesn’t use that data to set prices, but the correlation remains a point of regulatory scrutiny. www.npr.org/transcripts/...

Photographer's Notebook: The Krewe of Pyros brings New Orleans Mardi Gras to D.C. Besides putting on a great Mardi Gras ball, The Krewe of Pyros, centered in Washington, D.C., also does community outreach, gives out scholarships and does other types of charitable giving.

Just wanted to share this bit of culture with ya'll! Mardi Gras is such an electric time and no matter where people go we bring our traditions with us.

For #BHM, I like to tweet a #Blackwoman author daily whose #romancebooks I enjoy. As I have been traveling the last week, I will start a couple of days late this year but it's definitely on the list. I will also post a thread on other apps. πŸͺ· πŸ“š #romance #books #booksky #booktok #darkromance

Did a deep dive on my lunch break to find new indie books. After going through 200+ listings, I can definitely say A.I looks less distinct than old school MS paint covers. A.I covers are mostly poor typography, flat, & have no design to them. #writesky

I respect people giving this kind of heads up. I find that sometimes you have to expectations at and as a reader you have to double check that you're going in with an open mind

A novel section from a book called Darkness for dreams that reads as follows: She looked like a college student, an intern on her day off. That’s what the other Escort had said. He watched the girl, as the signal from his watch caused her to unconsciously signal him; she tapped her shoes in the familiar rhythm. Whether or not she knew it, the pattern was unmistakable: one-two-two-one-four-four-three-pause-nine-pause-repeat.
The man’s gaze narrowed. That had to be the girl he was supposed to meet, but was it a good thing? With her brown Bantu knots tied with blue and white ombre ribbons and a matching tracksuit, she contrasted with the modern wood, and silver sterility of the cafe. She should have been more subtle and not pretty.

Happy Black History month! It's been a long time since I've shared. This is from "Darkness for Dreams" my Cyberpunk short story to show the intro for one of my fav Black characters

But all and all, I would still recommend it as a valuable place to post. The users were really trying to help me even when they weren't the nicest. There's a lot of good advice, but if something doesn't click then it may be you need a more specific lesson, explanation, or way of it being explained

4) Part of the problem using r/pubtips, facebook groups, and even discord servers is... if you aren't writing commercial fiction then you might be facing the wrong audience for your genre. To be blunt r/pubtips kind of sucks for examples of more literary fiction (regardless of subgenre)

I literally had to see Query structure broken down into what percentage of Act 1 it should be, what plots/themes to drop, the word count, and *examples of blurbs/full plots for other manuscripts side-by-side to the query letters for those manuscript in my genre.*

#querytip #writesky 3) If you did the research on queries, you did several query drafts, and you don't understand why ppl say you're doing it wrong, then you haven't found the write (haha) explanation.

It took me looking in a general discussion to find advice written in a way that clicked.

2) If it is the mismatch between how you understand and a forum, then be kind to yourself even if it means deleting the post and walking away.

It was deeply frustrating because they were acting like I was an idiot. As a BIPOC, as someone with learning challenges, and someone who often *can't* articulate what I don't understand... r/pubtips genuinely made me want to take a long walk off a short pier. They thought it was the criticism.

03.02.2026 03:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

1) If you're not upset at the criticism, are you upset that the criticism and advice don't make sense?

People kept suggesting I hadn't done any research. That was far from the case. The problem was that how I understood what I was reading and the criticism, did not actually show me what was wrong.

So I did update the Query from Mangrove. Months ago I used posted a query draft for Mangrove on r/pubtips. It wasn't a good time to do it. My depression was relapsing a fair bit unbeknownst to me. They tore it apart.

But here's some tips that might help you in that situation...

Why I Finally Purchased ISBNs Beth Martin writes science fiction novels and escape room-style puzzle books.

Why are ISBNs so dang expensive?

Beth Martin is an incredibly thoughtful writer who I've had the pleasure of sharing digital space with. She makes some good points as to the benefit of having them, AND recognizes that the cost is BONKERS

Seeing so many artists speak out warms my heart. It feels like old America. Aretha and Stevie America. Eartha America. What's right is right and what's just is just and if you're going to let some vampire executive punk you, poison your culture, and prey upon your people, then we don't need you.

Please understand I love critiques despite my reactions. I think a lot of these are valid, but they're also *confusing*.

- Commercial readers and authors, do *not* like strong narrative voice. They like strong POV. (One of the best pieces of advice I got.)
- "You're a really good story-teller, but are not good at showing" then a few paragraphs later, I show too much detail, but not enough smells or tastes?

02.02.2026 02:32 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

- "The whole house isn't beneath her feet try "the floorboards creeked beneath her feet" wat?!?
- People have a REALLY hard time understanding narrative voice, narrative sarcasm in the POV, and I'm glad I did not go the Zora Neale wrote of using dialectics more.

Ok I checked Critique Circle tonight and I know one of my stories is rough, but CHRIST

Let me share some gems with you, and PLEASE NOTE: I GOT SOME GREAT ADVICE. I am the QUEEN of run on sentences in writing AND speaking, and my LD makes grammar non-intuitive. But HONEY CHILD STRAP IN
