My grandma used to make syltä, which is Swedish head cheese, and she’d boil down all of these joints and assorted scraps and turn them into jellied meatloaf. My husband’s super Slavic family made the same thing but added lots of garlic. Anyway, no. Nope. Never. Not even once.

We genuinely need a revival of virtue in the United States.

Do you ever just stop and think about how the federal government is attacking our state physically and financially *because* we were actually living too well by their metrics and the they can’t tolerate the integral part that immigrant and POC Minnesotans play.

A reminder that Minnesota as a whole sends more revenue to the federal government than it gets back, and on a per capita basis Minnesotans contribute more revenue to the federal government than residents of almost every other state in the nation.

In my (suburban/exurban) area, ICE has been stalking homeowners with Latino last names. IDK if they're using Onyx, or GIS tax data, or whatever to find their targets, but it's an added layer of WTF to this giant WTF layer salad. I know of at least four who've been targeted.

One of the most galvanizing aspects of life here, both individually and communally, is knowing just how morally repugnant ICE and this administration is. I cannot imagine voting for a candidate who is unwilling to meet the community on this basic level.

A lot of discussion about faith and politics, and as someone who regularly attends church but am not quite sure what I actually believe, my general feeling is that Democrats need leaders who can articulate their moral clarity about why they’re running and where this country needs to go.
