Personally I really like how the fire sprite turned out
Dude that part is a bit challenging to me cause I'm not a lawyer so take my words with a grain of salt. Most of the document specifies the object as balls, but on some parts like this it refers only to the throwing motion and not to the ball, so I wrote it as objects

Secondary claims like automatic movement or battle mode are only add ons to the main claims and arenβt a liability by themselves.
If your game doesnβt use throwing an object as a trigger to summon creatures or catch them, youβre already outside the danger zone ~
The main claims on the patent are:
> Throw item to summon
> Throw item to capture
Summoning and capturing creatures in other ways (magic circle, rune, whistle, skill command, etc.), or capturing them differently (bonding, negotiation, puzzle) IS OK!
Now, letβs talk about the claims:
Claims are like a recipe. Youβre liable to a lawsuit ONLY if you use all the ingredients.
Here we have 2 kinds of claims: main claims and secondary claims that add details to the main ones but are not valid by itself
This loop is:
> Throws item
> Creature appears
> Battle starts (auto or command)
> enemy gets weakened
> throw item again
> capture succeeds
> new creature joins your party.
So basically, Nintendo didn't patent "summoning characters to fight" as a whole but a very specific loop which requires a "throw to trigger action"
