Anatomic & functional brain atlases: connecting functional flexibility with fixed infrastructure - Brain Structure and Function Brain Structure and Function - Recent advancements in imaging across scales has propelled the development of anatomic brain atlases reflecting a wide range of cellular properties. It’s...

It's important to note that when discussing brain structure-function relationships across scales, that the definition of function changes with scale. Keep it straight! @sbe.bsky.social link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Frontiers | Structure–function relationships across scales: implications for atlases Neuroscience aims to understand how the structural and functional organization of the brain relates to behavior. Structural studies at the cellular level est...

I wrote an perspectives piece relevant to the structural atlasing endeavors. Structural atlases are not the end of the story. This perspective calls for models that take into account the flexible functional organization within this fixed architecture.

A related problem we have, which the university is just starting to recognize, is that a primary consideration for promotion for junior faculty is establishing independence... #competingpriorities

Multimodal identification of the mouse brain using simultaneous Ca2+ imaging and fMRI - Communications Biology Using simultaneously acquired wide-field fluorescence calcium imaging and BOLD-fMRI, subject-specific signatures are observable in the mouse connectome, with stronger individual specific patterns evident in the calcium data.

Really proud to share this w/ @francimandi.bsky.social from the Lake lab: we applied fingerprinting in a simultaneous wide-field fluorescence Ca2+ imaging and BOLD-fMRI dataset in mice!

It was a pleasure to host our last BRAIN U19 site visit. Thank you Randy Buckner @toddc.bsky.social and NIH BRAIN program for constructive criticism and encouragement!
It's a travesty that funding for large Team Science projects is going away. We are so much better together!

Functional connectome fingerprinting: identifying individuals using patterns of brain connectivity - Nature Neuroscience This study shows that every individual has a unique pattern of functional connections between brain regions. This functional connectivity profile acts as a β€˜fingerprint’ that can accurately identify the individual from a large group. Furthermore, an individual's connectivity profile can predict his or her level of fluid intelligence.

Proud to note that @esfinn.bsky.social 's paper just passed the 3000 citations mark - very cool! www.nature.com/articles/nn.... Thanks to the Emily and the team!
