This tablet woven band is made from (probably) linen with silver thread, both second hand. I used tablets made from old milk cartons and a bone needle I made myself. Total cost: 35kr and about 45 hours.
The brocade pattern is based on the beautiful band 2 from Birka grave 824.
Small purple band with silver details lying on a rock in the sun.
Life demands the occasional crazy project. Here comes hours and hours of picking threads, troubleshooting and weaving, weaving, weaving. So worth it. Never again.

Next course starts 29th of April!
⛰️And then there are the needles I found a while ago on Gran Canaria that are double that length. These actually inspire fibre crafts just from looking at them. Looking forward to crafting a nice memento from these 🧺

Why Sweden has no native pine needle tradition... Banana for scale!
🪵 On the left are needles from our native Scots pine, with needles that are teeny tiny! Nobody in their right mind would ever think basketry looking at these...

Nisse, a dog, looking for treats in a snuffle mat
🐾Nisse is helping me prep for the enrichment day I'm organising together with @ulvensdjurliv this Sunday. We'll be looking at how we can create our own dog toys, right for just our dog. With only upcycled material only of course.
There are some free spots left, so feel free to come join us.

Support your library!
Ever since I first saw a warpweighted loom I've looked for this book. It's sold out everywhere... But now I found it in the library!
Hopefully it inspires me to finish my loom I started on years ago. The book gave me permission to go for function over looks, so I have hope!
Custom snuffle mat by Den Gröna Fenixen
Look at this custom snuffle mat that is now hanging in @ulvens.bsky.social lekland in Djäkneböle! Did you know this adventure land for dogs is for rent?

My students still teach me things, even during beginner workshops. Look at this beautiful pine needle pendant to be, with two colours and matching pearls. The participant had never done this before, nobody told them how things 'should' be done.
Sometimes, rules and preconceptions are a hindrance.
Work in progress on a dog snuffle mat, where an old pair of jeans are being used.
I love inspiring people through teaching! But I also make custom orders. In both my courses and products I make sure that most materials are either natural or upcycled/recycled! I want more than anything to make the world a better place...

Just a little presentation of the face behind all this.
Hi! I'm Jolanda and live with my partner, dog and a crazy bunch of chickens in the countryside outside of Umeå, Sweden.
I'm a Jack of all trades, master of none! I've studied historical crafts, textiles and 'domestic art'.
I find it important to keep learning. Currently following a course on prehistoric crafts by the magnificent @sallypointer.bsky.social
A little lilly basket is in the making (so bast or grass to find under the snow right now). So addictive!
Nu ligger alla vårens aktiviteter ute på hemsidan! Först ut: 11 februari, göra smycken i tallbarr.
