Something that slowly, steadily burns low in his stomach—a quiet ache that slips out as a soft, involuntary sound. Ratio’s voice cuts through the haze. “Does it hurt?” Yes. “No,” Aventurine grits out. It digs deeper, a hollow ache sinking its claws into his soul, unwilling to relent.
