It seems to me that today provides a stark contrast for our nation between autocracy and democracy. I know what I choose. You can have your stupid military parade.

Deeper into the sourdough I go. Workshop #2 last weekend.

First time in South Dakota. Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park, Deadwood and the 1880 train to Hill City. Clearly the best attraction though was Colt Horton. Thanks to Ryan and Chailenn for being great guides. What a beautiful part of the country!

This never gets easy. I’m grateful to GRRAND to have had this boy for the last 5 years of his life. They were good ones. So glad you joined the pack, Bear. Onward, sweet boy.

One thing I’ve done lately to explore and branch out was to take a sourdough class at a local cooking school. My first loaf was a 90% success. I’m hooked…and now have starter in the fridge.

I had no idea I had accomplished this. I guess it’s okay to toot my own horn every once in a while. Toot toot!

Vengeance and retribution aren’t attributes of a democracy and they certainly aren’t values of people of faith. They are the actions of small, petty, mean, insecure people who are awful neighbors, horrible allies, and unfit leaders. I’m ashamed of all of you. This is no way to run a government.

It was great to make a quick trip to Memphis and the Peabody Hotel for the pre-meetings at the APCE Annual Event. I didn’t stay for the conference, but I did see so many great friends and colleagues. I’ve definitely had FOMO this week, but I’m trying to stay boundaried and well.
