Yes, for sure. But Policing is meant to be more than that, isn't it? This is about equity and legitimacy. The disproportionality in the false positives will inevitably have downstream implications. It is morally problematic.
I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree on this.
and that's the point. These false positives are people! These figures cannot be brushed aside unless, of course, leadership is content to bake even more disproportionality into a system that's already groaning under its weight.

Maybe accurate but 8 out of 10 false positives were people going about their lawful business. Pulled aside in public, surrounded by officers, talked to, intimidated then sent on their way, humiliated, just because they're Black. That cannot be brushed aside.

Local Greens were among the 250 people who joined this counter protest against the anti-asylum seeker demonstration at Ibis Hotel #Gloucester yesterday.
The counter protesters hugely outnumbered the demonstrators, and one hotel guest even came out to thank the counterprotest for the supportπ
Indeed! We lack specific law governing police use of LFR. Relying instead on court rulings, HO & ICO guidance. This regulatory gap limits oversight and raises serious concerns. In a functional democracy, any surveillance that impacts fundamental rights needs parliamentary scrutiny. We need that now!
