Remember Me Shawl blocking. Half of the shawl can be seen in the picture. The upper portion is the mid line. The yarn is handspun in greens, blues, and purples.
To get this colorway the braids were divided in half, one single was spun end to end split several more times, while the other was a gradient of green to purple.
It's a fun one! I've done this pattern before using 8 oz of handspun. I love the shawl but it was a very multicolored spin which took away from some of the details.
Thus the choice for a tonal yarn on this second make ๐ฅฐ

A work in progress shot, with two yarn cakes and a skein sitting on the crochet shawl seen at one full skein used. Yarn and project are all a pastel pink tonal on a silk and wool blend. Half of the shawl is on screen.
Pattern: Remember Me
Yarn: The Crochet Cove, silky fingering, Rose Quartz

First skein of yarn used in this crochet project! This is the Remember Me shawl. A cool feature of the pattern is that the lace edging is worked at the same time as the body. It is an easy to remember pattern (until you get to the final border where I will 100% pull out the paper pattern).

You have a lovely collection of spindles, and the spun singles are looking beautiful. I hope the plying wasn't too hard or challenging.

stitch markers!
Building my first set of stitch markers. Wow it's been a while since I did anything with my beading tools.
Took a few days off project planning, and made some stitch markers. The box of numbers is not evenly balanced so not every set had enough colors or matches to make full 1 to 0 sets. As such I made a few mm hook / needle markers and some 10-100 markers.

Thank you ๐ I have wanted to do combo spins before but it was emotionally hard to stash dive and try something new. But somehow having someone else color pick made it easier to let go and just see the colors come together. Now that I've done one I think I could stash dive my lonely dyed braids.

The current plan is a sweater. But I don't know if I'll need to add in some white / other colors to add yardage maybe as colorwork or the cuff, collar, and ribbing. I'll have to check final yardage after the wash.

I was a fun spin! Hopefully I'll see the dyer at events this year and be able to get more fiber. She's more known for her yarns locally so the dyed fiber doesn't go to every trunk show.

The original braids of fiber! Six colorways selected by the dyer with the note that I planned to do a combo spin and like cool tones (greens to purples, and some pinks). All the braids had at least one similar color if not two.
The first division of the braids into smaller sections of roughly equal weight. I weighed each fluffy nest and made mixed bags of roughly 2 oz.
When spinning I would pick a bag, split the nests into smaller sections and then do a second randomized drawing of fiber.
The skeins! These are ready to be washed and the twist set. You can see a lot of the skeins have blues, a pop of green, and some purple. Some do have some muddy colors where muted greens and reds plied but I think it works. The smallest skein is the left overs from each skein connected and plied. It will act as my swatch-ing skein when I go to decide on a pattern. Other much smaller swatches were made before the start of the spin to decide on wheel ratios and wpi for the singles. As such my total weight in skeins is closer to 22 oz.
Finished a large spin! This is Dyer's Choice on Polwarth from Edgewood Garden done as a combination spin.

"Crashing Waves" took a different method. I carded up the fiber on my drum carder and then drafted it in to roving.

This project took about 5 months with all the breaks I took. Ready for the wash are 2 skeins using the "Crashing Waves", 2 skeins of a combo spin using "Sunshower" and "Sea Monster", and a mini skein using the left overs. #handspinning #spinningyarn #spinningfiber
