I usually give it a quick skim on my active computer (desktop usually, laptop ATM because I can't sit at my desk due to back pain), but in-depth reading happens on my tablet.

People nattering about "Iran's government is bad, BUT" feels like a waste of breath and brainpower to me. It doesn't matter, bombing people out of nowhere (including a primary school, I will not forget that) is evil.

ICE and CBP have HAD cameras recording their every move from multiple angles. In those circumstances, they gunned people down in the streets. What the hell are body cameras supposed to accomplish?

Learning about these two men is really making me rethink my stance on immigration enforcement.
Before, I thought we should abolish ICE.
Now, I think we should abolish ICE, *and* CBP.

Also a lot of all-or-nothing thinking. "Nuclear makes a lot more power!" It goes great with renewables, too. "Oil is used for more than fuel!" Yeah, and we can free up more of it for those uses. Heck, we don't even need to replace every gas/diesel vehicle if there's a big need for a gas engine!

"Refrigerants destroy the ozone layer!" We stopped using those ones decades ago. "Solar panels are really inefficient!" They used to be, they really aren't now (also, low efficiency on free is still free). "Batteries are explosive!" The video explains *right there* that new technologies are better.

From the few negative responses to the energy part of this video, the main thing I'm learning is that a lot of people picked up information from a news article they read 10-20 years ago (or heard secondhand), and just haven't updated their understanding of the technology since.

Jesus, people are desperate to claim everything is already lost, huh?
It's obviously unwise to just assume everything will be fine without any work. But the US's electoral traditions are strong, and the people can and have overcome attempts to rig the system. It sucks that we have to, but we can.

A few broader thoughts:

1) This election happened, period.

2) It happened in Texas, no less.

3) It happened even though Trump himself took an intense interest in winning it.

If Trump could cancel elections or ordain their outcomes, then why didn't he do that tonight?

Somehow I suspect that people who weren't already on board with "gunning people down in the streets is bad, actually" are going to be persuaded by a meek and apologetic tone, or by pretending you're rationally analyzing sports strategies. You said what needed to be said, the way it needed to be said

Jeffries and Schumer are so ragingly incompetent that I'm starting to wander into actual legal territory. I'm pretty sure there's no criminal negligence for political incompetence, but these two sure make it feel like there should be.

it is impossible to miss the difference between the names you see in newspaper headlines and the names you don't see in newspaper headlines

Abolish ICE, prosecute and imprison its leaders, impeach and remove the President from office. This is the only sane reaction to a group of armed men kidnapping and gunning down our neighbors in the street.

Britain's center-left party has been tacking rightwards to try to pick up voters from the right.
The result has been a bunch of terrible policies, their base absolutely hates them, and they've picked up basically no right-wing voters.
PAY ATTENTION, DEMOCRATS.

Destroy ICE.
Destroy the DHS.
Enforce the War Powers Resolution so Presidents can't send troops gallivanting off to any part of the world without anyone else's say-so.
These are the *bare minimum* requirements of de-Trumpifying the US.
