25 years ago, @melbournedean.bsky.social and I (and others!) ran a thing called Laser Vespers in The Selwyn College Cambridge chapel (it was my job to run the strobe lights from the organ loft!)
Anyway, turns out we are still cool (ish!)

I think one of the more important, lasting lessons that I've learned from Audrey Watters is to know your (ed)tech history.

In this recent talk, she asks, "[W]hat might it mean that our depictions of the future of education now are the same as depictions of the future from the 1950s?"

I have no self control and will talk to you the whole flight and I really have to finish this paper. Thank you.

Mentioned this pic to our writing retreat folks, yesterday. A good option for trying to write in shared office spaces, too! πŸ˜…(alternatively, put a post-it on your own forehead if you are - like me - your own biggest distraction) #AcWriMo #highered #academicsky #academicchatter #PhDchat

Research, as an extra, is ridiculous.
Hoping your soul gets what it needs, as well as your body and bank account. Such an impossible equation so often but fortunately our kind of researchers can re-enter when they are ready, so see you then! πŸ’š

Such a big responsibilityβ€”but so good you have done the best to do it ethically. You can’t cover everything, but you can try to be representative and it sounds like you have. And so timely and essential!

Flow is what led me to Averroes… I could have stopped at Aquinas, I really could! I could have stopped at the footnote in the Long Commentary! But no, I need to see the line in the Middle Commentary which is Not Online.
But thank you! Taking your academic wishes in the spirit they were given! πŸ’š

No, I’m just usually very annoyed about other people misusing theory because they haven’t understood it, so I’m making sure I have everything in a row before I… misuse the theory. It’s my own fault!! πŸ˜‚

Anyway, happy #AcWriMo to all who celebrate!
