It is right that my first encounter with French waiter in over a decade involved ordering a melon-jamon salad, which was met by a genuinely confused look. A repeat followed by pointing at the menu was when responded to with “but we are TWO months from melon season!?”

Air travel is way less fun when you have to pay for everything yourself.
