Great news, I used to really enjoy it!

Sure, but they'll never be a sensible centre-right party. They'll go more and more fascist then fight each other to the death when Farage quits. That's why we need a sensible conservative party.

I have a mild disapproval of Brits choosing to live in Spain without bothering to learn the language but they should have been free to enjoy those holiday/retirement homes.

Lots of fairly bitter schadenfreude from fellow remainers in the replies to this. A couple of years ago I'd have probably been one of them but now I'm just sad, for all of us.

She gets everywhere. It's a really full working life for a ship that nominally retired decades ago.

You need a second phone? This has always bothered me too.

It's a cargo cult. Guys, she's not coming back.

I hate saying this but Britain does actually need a sensible, functioning centre-right party (and left, but that's a different matter) - Tories, please sort yourselves out.

This is a thing that never happens, and a question that I haven't seen since leaving Twitter.

Today someone from a different organisation - one of our suppliers - emailed me to ask me to do something they could have done themself. Do I have to do literally everything?

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I can hear everyone in the public sector nodding along to this.

This was certainly the local story when I was growing up in the area. Seem to remember a kids' book that used it too?

I was told to put content warnings on photos of my dog. On the plus side it was really easy to delete my account (snark unintended, I do think that's an important thing).

Sky Arts broadcast Marillion's 2017 gig at the Albert Hall the other week, just watching it now. Floored by Neverland, as I always am. Just incredible that it's 21 years old. Never loses its impact on me.

That little corner of Brighton was done up in 2005 and just hasn't changed at all since. Weird little time capsule.

This is one of those places that I thought would last forever even though I never went there. Well, I did once, with a half-price voucher from the Argus and thought it was decent value at that price.

I did eng lit A-level (badly), followed it up at uni and inevitably dropped out. Fallen utterly in love with it during my 40s, mostly thanks to podcasts. My experience leads me to agree with you (but someone else's may not).

Oh, I meant the museum specifically! We go fairly often to walk the dog along the beach path, Mrs H went to the museum a couple of years ago (when there sans dog) and still talks about it. It came up in conversation today.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it at the cinema, I still remember being amazed they'd done it.

This could be a long and rambling thread. Be patient with me.

I bought an old mahogany bureau on Ebay. I didn't really want a bureau as we're meant to be downsizing, but it was a beautiful piece & obviously very old. Google lens suggests the brass chased handles are Queen Anne. That's 1702-1714 😯

I've just spent a week of trial and error re learning Linux after about 15 years away.
