Sorry, but those dramatic numbers are pure cherry-picking! The report doesnโ€™t say 2,500 died from wood/coal burning- itโ€™s an average 3.5 hours off each life across the population. And ยฃ54m vs the NHSโ€™s ยฃ188b a year? Thatโ€™s about 3 hrs! Please be real - this spin is doing more harm than good.

Thought provoking for sure ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ โ€˜how we use energy, how we manage land and restore nature, how we grow and transport food โ€ฆ urban life often obscures this pictureโ€™

Sure, point taken. So many voices out there saying different things and then the real life experiences. It works for me and my neighbourhood ( mostly newish stoves) which are way, way better than the old ones and open fires. Not perfect but a step in the right direction. Rome wasnโ€™t built in a day!

On the edge of a town, yes. Unhappy people? Honestly not that I know of (and I know my neighbourhood well) Sorry youโ€™re having rough time and I get that youโ€™re angry about that. Iโ€™m not here to fight - just to understand whats going on

I donโ€™t live in a commune ๐Ÿ˜‰ - just a friendly town. Genuinely we donโ€™t annoy each other with smoke or fumes. I have ticked off one guy for buying bad wood - but thatโ€™s my point - itโ€™s all about responsibility and respect. Wood connects me to nature way more than my HP does!

Thanks Mike - sorry, not ignoring you - just a lot to digest. Lots of bedtime reading for me tonight ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe some - but do you not worry thereโ€™s a drive to move us away from independent and renewable energy? The Global Action Plan campaign is not very accurate and is strangely promoting fossil fuels ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ - I found this on X โ€ฆ

Maybe in some areas but not all. Wood plays an important part in society and connects us to nature. Surely if these campaigns were to put their money into teaching people how to burn wood responsibly we could actually make a real difference. instead I fear the message is getting everyoneโ€™s back up

21.01.2025 19:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yes it is actually and we have many friends in similar situations around the country that donโ€™t have issues. Itโ€™s not unusual at all

21.01.2025 17:39 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

My neighbour does have copd - finds his stove actually helps his breathing by circulating the air. Also thereโ€™s no conclusive studies on ultra fine pm. Unless you know of one?

21.01.2025 17:35 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

That wasnโ€™t totally down to burning wood though. Lots of other factors involved like hygiene etc. life expectancy has stayed about the same in the last 50 years. I just think people need to be made more aware on how to burn better - then weโ€™d all be happy

21.01.2025 17:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I guess not, but thereโ€™s no issues in our neighbourhood - probably because weโ€™re all pretty respectful in what we burn - we use a local tree chap and always season it before burning.

21.01.2025 17:27 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Sure, but our bodies can deal and filter out those pollutants to a degree. As humans weโ€™ve always burnt wood and always been exposed to this. Why is there suddenly a push to ban it especially as we can do it so well these days? Thereโ€™s some pretty clever tech out there

21.01.2025 17:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Interesting but not convinced Iโ€™m afraid. Almost no smoke from ours. Our neighbour has Copd and finds his stove actually helps his breathing! Letโ€™s the air in the house naturally circulate and gets rid of damp and mould. His HP doesnโ€™t do that!

21.01.2025 14:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Wow, not had that experience. Sorry youโ€™ve had to face that. Newer stoves are much better - we made the switch a couple of years ago. Like chalk and cheese

21.01.2025 14:16 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 4    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yup, Iโ€™ve had a play with the Hp settings. It is ok - just not the same heat as a stove. Luckily weโ€™ve got good neighbours. we all have stoves, share wood loads and make sure we burn well. When people understand how to burn properly with respect it works well

The whole message is wrong @globalactionplan.bsky.social - negative, inaccurate and trying to bring down those of us who want to be free from the big energy corps. whoโ€™s really behind this #cleanairnight campaign ??

Cheesed off with this @globalactionplan.bsky.social campaign against log burners and then hey presto I found this on X !! Any comments?? #cleanairnight

No, Iโ€™m not but will look into it. Thx again. My concern is this push against stoves. For us and our neighbours HP + wood stove is a really good combo. To rely on all electric or fossil fuels is just not sustainable

11.01.2025 09:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Thanks! helpful to know. It works ok most of the time but just not well when itโ€™s cold - we do also get power cuts. Thatโ€™s where our stove comes into play. Itโ€™s pretty important to us and burns clean. No complaints here

10.01.2025 20:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So - we have a heat pump and a wood stove (eco-design). Right now our heat pump is not giving us sufficient heat so we run our stove. Itโ€™s our only option. What do you suggest?
