The date went well! We talked for like 8 hours straight, it was nice. I got to tell that little voice in the back of my head to get stuffed for a little while, and not cut and run.

Yeah, for sure. Honestly, my inspiration behind all of this was to find the closest match and have an excuse for a road trip, haha.

I feel like the Dow/Midland connections feel more spiritually parallel to the whole Cave Johnson sort of vibe though? Idk, might be a combination of both things. Or yknow, they just made up the story and picked a spot randomly

Oh yeah, the Morton Salt Company has a plant up there, and it was formerly the site of one or multiple salt mines. Idk if it was a brine well, or an actual rock salt mine though.

My brain is currently down a rabbit hole of which Michigan city is closest to the setting for Aperture Science Labs. It's supposedly set in Northern Michigan in an abandoned salt mine. So that leaves Midland and Manistee as options. Though, Midland isn't really all that "north" as it is "middle"

I fully understand how flawed and illogical these "rules" are, but the most common problem I run into is how my mind will constantly go back and default to them. All the same, if I'm ever acting odd in a social setting, it is likely one of these rules at play.

4. Every encounter you have starts an unseen clock that counts down the time until you've overstayed your welcome. Leave before the clock runs out, because folks don't like it when you linger. You're only a visitor, make sure you keep moving along.

I finally sat down and wrote down the "rules" I follow in most interactions... or at least the interactions I follow with people I dont want to totally avoid and wow, this is a depressing list. It's really four major rules.
