👩‍💻 Happy International Women's Day! Only 24,4% of the industry workforce are females, but it gets better, if we continue:
✅ Building an inclusive game industry
✅ Tackling the under-presence of young girls in games culture
✅ Tackling the lack of female founders of gamedev studios

5️⃣ Building a predictable regulatory framework
✅ Pros: The Commission pledges to make the EU regulatory process faster and simpler.
🚨 Cons: It is likely that the inability of European institutions to deliver a regulatory framework in a predictable manner continues to be a key regulatory risk 6/6

4️⃣ Cutting red tape
✅ Pros: The Commission is committed to streamlining (digital) regulations and implementing policies more effectively
🚨 Cons: The 51 new initiatives for the first year and 123 old initiatives in the pipeline will likely bring new compliance requirements for European businesses 5/6

3️⃣ Supporting talent attraction and immigration
✅ Pros: The Commission notes labour migration is needed to address the European skills shortage
🚨 Cons: Actual policy actions focus almost solely on illegal migration and asylum policy, and the EU's visa policy is seen as a geopolitical tool 4/6

2️⃣ Boosting cultural and creative industries
✅ Pros: Cultural and creative industries are acknowledged to be amongst our economy's most dynamic and competitive sectors.
🚨 Cons: It is still a long way to a clear plan to explore the full potential of cultural and creative industries in our society.3/6

1️⃣ Securing fair competition
✅ Pros: Improved access to data and fair competition are at the core of the agenda
🚨 Cons: A clear and coherent legal framework for businesses and administrations to share data seamlessly and at scale, does not necessarily ensure access to the data in the first place2/6

5️⃣ We need better access to regulation. All EU member states should translate relevant acts, implementation guidelines, and court decisions into English. All EU member states should also allocate sufficient resources for their national enforcement authorities to help businesses in English. 6/6

4️⃣ We need better enforcement: It is essential to ensure that judges and enforcement authorities across the EU have the same high enough technical expertise to understand how, for example, AI systems and digital value chains work.   5/6

3️⃣ We need better implementation of regulation. All EU member states should always discuss and coordinate any changes in their interpretation of EU law and national regulatory implementation practices with other EU member states. 4/6

2️⃣ We need better regulation. All national and European regulations must be based on strong technology-, content- and business-model neutrality. All regulations should be fully harmonised on the EU level. The legislative environments for the different sectors must constitute a consistent whole. 3/6

1️⃣ We need more self- and co-regulation. All EU initiatives must focus on imposing general principles. The details must be left to market players’ self-regulation or co-regulation in cooperation with national authorities and the Commission. 2/6

Epic will expand its mobile game store by helping cover developer iOS fees Epic is hoping Europe will step in to help in its fight.

Free markets do not work without fair competition. It is time for the
Commission to fully open mobile markets for competition by forcing Apple and Google to comply with #DMA so that actions like this would not be needed to bring the benefits of DMA to the. EU. www.theverge.com/2025/1/23/24...
