This is dedicated to all the aged carers and disability workers around the world. It is a vocation that requires a generous and open heart. I know that I would not be able to do it. This scene was a reminder to me that there are people who have what it takes and it says a lot about them.

In my view, if a person has shelter and can feel safe, their mental health improves - it is a small and narrow path that is formed whereby they can take tiny steps forwards - not to keep up with life, but to regain some of their own dignity.#streetphotography #thoughts #photography

In a developed nation, it’s not anyone’s fault that they cannot keep up but no one should be left behind.

You might call me an “idealist” but I do not think it’s too much to ask that societies take care of their people. We have so many years of history to learn from; we have communities to learn from as well.

I have thought for 2 months whether to share this image. I decided to do so because the person is not identifiable and no body parts are visible. I do not profit from such photos. But the subject-matter is close to my heart: inequality.

The role of the man in western culture has changed a lot. We must never tar all men with a single brush because I feel that there are good men out there who were brought up well by their parent or parents. We were all children once.

I am an atheist but I believe in respecting what another person chooses to believe in. It is when people use religion to gain power or to fight that I think that there should be no religion at all. Everyone should have an ideology of peace.

Sometimes the light at the end of the path is bright. Some days it’s dimmed. Some days it feels like I am staring at a dead end. Only to find a corner that I can turn. We all have our journeys and the most important thing is to not assume that darkness leads to a dead end.

I stand and stare at it for a while and try to pay attention to the detail and then have gratitude that I am present in the moment to notice. Emptying the brain of all the fog and the rubbish takes years of practise. I sometimes still struggle with it.

When I am struggling with my #mentalhealth and I feel I am not ‘seeing’, I try to look for things that are simple in their beauty. For me, such images lift the brain fog just a little bit.

My friends thought I was mad. Forward to today, here we are trying to catch up to all the warning signs over the decades. I think our planet is beautiful. But I think humans are destructive. If we are unable to be kinder to each other, how can we be kinder to our home?#photography #thoughts
