I thought the interesting bit from that was Chris Ruddy completely debunking the rupture between Starmer and Trump, and admitting the USA launched into this without really consulting allies.

The fire at Glasgow central station is utterly devastating. Shops, homes and our transport link to England are being wiped out.
I am amazed by the limited news coverage.

Opinion: Ultimately, both sides will have to return to the issues that led to war in the first place. The question is when: it only takes one side to start a war, but here it will take all three to end it ft.trib.al/hXRptCj

Can I avoid disappointing Donald Trump? Many have tried but few succeed

"Perhaps he’ll threaten close allies with trade tariffs. Oh, hang on. Strewth, thank heavens we are not in his bad books" - enjoyable acidic from @robertshrimsley.bsky.social:

Money, Money.. who finds the Tony Blair institute?

08.03.2026 12:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Thank you- your FT reporting and analysis is very good. In this age of disinformation and pushing political agendas, the FT seems to stand virtually alone amongst mainsteam media in presenting a balanced view (might even run to a subscription soon!)

Hey @lewisgoodall.com - are you going to explore Blairs comments? If so, this by Philip Stevens is interesting.

Wow. This is brilliantly on point & ridiculously prescient.

..and Ukraine shows that you don't need sea defences to stop drones etc. Its other technologies that matter. Feel like punching Chris Philp.

08.03.2026 10:47 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Philp is talking rubbish. One war ship is not a total defence. We have LOTs of air borne defence in the region

08.03.2026 10:45 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Chris Philp? Give him hell, @lewisgoodall.com The Tories (and Reform for that matter) are playing with fire. Supporting direct involvement in a war which could escalate to world proportions. And who says we have no information? Info sharing (5 eyes etc) we know that the US has no plan

08.03.2026 10:43 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh what a surprise- no doubt if it ever happened the proceeds would go into Trump’s offshore accounts

Interesting listening to Any Answers-- so far more or less 100% support for the government's position on the Iran war re defensive support only. The right wing media and parties are very misaligned.

I believe its the press and right wing parties who are opposing, Listening to Any Answers- almost unanimous support from callers. There's a complete misalignment between (most of) the press and the public

This makes me even more convinced that Starmer's position is correct!

Russia now have their own manufacturing capabilities for Shahed drones, so not supplied by Iran any more (or not the main source?)

04.03.2026 15:25 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
