If literally any esports scene is built to survive a crash, it's fighting games. THE reason fighting games as a competitive scene has survived for this long while every other esport built on a single game with the support of the developer died off despite being way bigger.

Tekken is the restaurant that's good but they make baffling changes to the menu. Virtua Fighter is the restaurant that's great but they have weird hours so you don't go often. Dead or Alive is the restaurant where waitresses wear skimpy outfits and nobody believes you when you say the food is good.

A thing they don't tell you about the "push a button for a million dollars but someone you don't know dies" hypothetical is that literally every billionaire is effectively pressing that button as much as they can all the time because that's how exploitation works.
