I will definitely get Nick and Rob's new book from the library when it comes out. I hope it is a fair and balanced assessment of the reforms which worked and those which didn't. Rob's previous polemic was very much historical cherry picking. I have high hopes for this though!

The is Margaret Robertson - she was headmistress of Christ's Hospital Girls School for 32 years. She was President of the Association of Headmistresses later @ascl-uk.bsky.social - I was reading a PHD about women code breakers yesterday and it turns out Margaret was one of them. /1

It was really disappointing today to hear him paint a narrative that positioned anyone skeptical of the new framework as somehow the enemies of promise. Those people may exist but they weren’t in that room during his speech. Tone deaf speech unfortunately.

Sir Martyn Oliver references the recommendation in ASCL's Blueprint for a Fairer Education System for a balanced scorecard - but disagrees with our suggestion that schools & colleges should be evaluated as simply having met or not met standards in different aspects of education. #ASCL2025

Quite depressing! And usually delivered by people who last set foot in a classroom to teach 10 years ago.
