On this day in the history of education, on May 25, 1925, John T. Scopes was indicted for teaching evolution in Tennessee. The case would end on July 21, 1925 with Scopes being found guilty. An appeal would follow. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJoZ...

There was agreement with A.B. Daniel in that the resolution should now be raised at newly formed Secondary Heads Association Council.
It was therefore RESOLVED that βas an indication of our repugnance for the system of apartheid, that SHA sell their holding of shares in Hill Samuel /2

In 1977, one of the issues βleft on the tableβ at the final meeting of Head Masters Association (later ASCL) in Division XV at Llanwrtyd was N. Stewartβs resolution regarding H.M.A. investments which helped to support the South African Government with its apartheid policy. /1
I will definitely get Nick and Rob's new book from the library when it comes out. I hope it is a fair and balanced assessment of the reforms which worked and those which didn't. Rob's previous polemic was very much historical cherry picking. I have high hopes for this though!

For 40 years, weβve stood with local neighbourhoods facing the harshest challenges of poverty and exclusion. But the work is not done.
Today we are launching our 'No One Left Out' anniversary campaign. A call to build inclusion for the next four decades.

The orchestrated attack of the old band continues. Next up is a Chief Inspector who was tone deaf & presided over the most disastrous period in Ofstedβs history. This stuff is so predictable and just a series of red herrings.

It was really disappointing today to hear him paint a narrative that positioned anyone skeptical of the new framework as somehow the enemies of promise. Those people may exist but they werenβt in that room during his speech. Tone deaf speech unfortunately.
