This graph shows some of the most important trends in the United States' death rates. Any death rates in the USA that was going up before COVID hit is abnormal. The most normal is male death rates are higher than female. The political party that the people in a state votes for is most abnormal. The time covered in this graph does not cover all the time that this has been going on. There are four causes of these increases. Evangelicals shifting more and more to prayer for health care, the capitalist health insurance industry is responsible for the other three: People who cannot afford coverage. Those who afford coverage have such large deductibles, they cannot afford care when they need it and most importantly, the health insurance industry denies an awful lot of care through their prior approval requirement. Unfortunately, I cannot find data that will allow me to even estimate, let alone measure, how much each of these contribute to the high rate in this age group. For the young and elderly, it is clear that Evangelicals using prayer instead of health care is the major cause because health insurance does not have a monopoly on paying for their health care.
