2/2 - and there are also good cases from Franklin-Christoph, a bit more pricey. It's weird: it isn't just low-cost items - I recently saw someone have pens discolored by a new Esterbrook case with a colorful interior. If you are at home, they don't need to be in the loops, and keep the case open.

1/2 - I don't mean to sensationalize, just a head's up. My storage is quite varied, from desktop wooden cases, DIY boxes I've made myself (I should do a thread here) and a big cabinet I put together during Covid. For valises like what you have, I do trust the products from Girologio...

If I may... occasionally pull out some pens and take a look. Many people report with some leather/elastic loop zip cases a problem of discoloring the acrylic on their pens. Seems to be effects of leather tanning and rubbers in the elastic. I tend to use these only when transporting, not storage.

I want to add that I don't mean this to be off-putting about the love of writing instruments, it's a wonderful world. It is more about circumstances: post-Covid buying, analog interests, companies marketing to a new audience. It all happened at once, and like tourism, there are too many people.

I liked it better before fountain pens became a thing. The last five years have been less fun, for reasons like the above. It's the "overtourism" effect... "overhobbyism"?

The one thing I've heard is that the build is less than robust, with pens cracking within the 1st couple of months. Sometimes, you do get what you pay for.
