Very bad timing, not that it's ever good. Sorry for both loses.

If there is even a record of it anywhere to find.
Anyway, sorry again for rambling at you. Happy to have a conversation if you would like one, but I don't want to over stay if I'm already not wanted.
I agree definitive proof may be difficult or impossible, depending on circumstances. Which is why I simply said "come forward", meaning to publicly make the claim.
But rethinking my comment, maybe they did and it just didn't work out. I should probably research more before making any assumptions.
Just excited about the movie and looking into what others are saying. But I likely did step out of line commenting randomly, for which I apologize. Happy to leave you be if I'm not welcome, and won't take offense to a mute or block.
24.02.2026 21:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If the person who originated the idea wanted to profit off it, they've had time to come forward. While they do deserve credit, I feel Kane Parson's Youtube series has iterated enough on the concept to make it his own, and I'm really happy he's getting to take that work to the big screen.

24.02.2026 17:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Some are going to prefer escapism, while others catharsis. I can see the fun in both, as long as everyone at the table is on board. And as you mention, they are far from mutually exclusive.
24.02.2026 17:36 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is based on the youtube series by Kane Pixels, who is also directing the movie. It's inspired by the same viral concept, but otherwise unrelated.
24.02.2026 16:49 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Now imagine there is no construction crew, as far as you can tell. Just this inexplicable, never ending maze of empty rooms without purpose or reason. And you're in the middle of it, unable to leave.
24.02.2026 16:46 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's largely degraded to fodder for indie horror games, with the exception of Kane Pixel's youtube series. AKA, Kane Parson's, the director of this movie. Unless you want to go into this movie blind, the series is worth a watch.
24.02.2026 16:42 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Note there's no explanation on the "it" that is remembering, or how that would lead to the creation of rooms. It doesn't even touch on any literal monsters, much less their motives or origins. We just have a memory of a room growing more imperfect.

I think they said early on this wouldn't be using the found footage format. At least not for the whole movie.
And I took the narration less as "explaining the monster", and more of someone's observation and hypothesis on the phenomenon that works as a succinct introduction to the concept.
It is.

The Reaper's Heart costume isn't real. It can't hurt you.
The Reaper's Heart costume...
...one seemingly cursed with bad luck yet addicted to gambling; one who grew up feral in the Sea of Thieves after great tragedy; one who got to adventure along with his father; and possibly more!
23.02.2026 17:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0- These include: one who vowed vengeance against the Reapers; one who fell in love with a mermaid and retired to become a fisheman; one that became a thief before coming to the Sea of Thieves, and seeks wealth above all else; one who was adopted by an academic, but both cursed by a gorgon;

- Discovers the Sea of Thieves borders not just the afterlife, but alternate timelines after realizing he'd somehow begun slipping between them randomly.
- Finds evidence of other versions of himself who lived different lives, some subtly, some dramatically, but always coming to the Sea.
- Becomes obsessed with the magic of Sea of Thieves, joining up with the Order and later Athena's Fortune, traveling about the Sea to create a personal chronicle of it's history and mystical nature, and inadvertently becoming a fairly competent pirate.
- Never finds his father.
- Found half dead in the inky waters, randomly clutching a parrot also caught in the attack who becomes his pet.
- Rescued by a member of the Order of Souls, who saves his life by stitching him up. (They knew he'd resurrect, but wanted to practice their surgery skills.)
