A screenshot of Rachel Dratch from SNL. She's a white woman with short dark hair and blue eyes, and she's making an awkward expression that implies, "Sorry I have to tell you this and ruin your good time. But also I'm kind of not sorry about it." I've added a subtitle that reads, "That's AI."

My beige pets who love to be on my lap do not appreciate being abruptly flung away with little warning. And I hate to do it to 'em, but.

In the "still can't trust a fart" stage of recovery from the school crud stomach bug.

Teaching is so joyful.

You know the parachutes we played with in kindergarten as a class? If I bought one and took it to the park do you think I could use it to befriend other adults?

Anthropic Education Report: The AI Fluency Index Anthropic's AI Fluency Index measures 11 observable behaviors across thousands of Claude.ai conversations to understand how people develop AI collaboration skills.

There are only "24 specific behaviors that we take to exemplify safe and effective human-AI collaboration," so, come on, K-12 teachers, get at it.

My spouse suggested my memoir be titled, "I Always Leave Twice" because it sounds mysterious but it's actually because of how often I forget something when I leave and have to come back for it.

yes I think I have to write something about 'failing quietly' vs 'failing loudly'

when the electricity in your house goes out, that is failing loudly. you know at once.

when an AI fails, it mostly fails quietly. the bad incorrect answer gives no warning that it is different to the good useful one

Today a kindergartener saw me walking to work and asked me about it. I said I chose to walk. She said, "But it's COLD! Don't you have PARENTS?!"

Who should have the final say in what kids read? | Opinion Government bans impose one-size-fits-all rules that ignore the diverse needs and maturity levels of Florida students.

β€œChildren don’t mature at the same pace, & a statewide list of banned books can’t reflect the needs of hundreds of thousands of unique students … Parental guidance respects these differences; government restrictions do not.”

Begging my fellow printer paper people to understand that your IMPACT can be harmful even when your INTENT was not to be.

The road to hell and all that. Gonna start referring to it as the white pavior complex.

Speechifying on social media falls short of this. Time to take a shower, put on pants, and figure out what else is helpful I can do.

We have to push against individual instances of both racism and ableism. We have to fight against institutionalized racism and ableism. We have to recognize when we mess up and can do better. Then we have to try to do better.

23.02.2026 12:09 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

We (white people who identify as anti-racist and anti-ableist) teach others to be racist when we passivey let racism go unchallenged in both big ways (institutional) and small ways (individual).

We do the same with ableism.

If we value other humans, we have to act like we do.

Somebody who used to work as a phone interpreter for deaf people told me that clients would sometimes ask whether the person they were speaking to had "Black voice," even when it had absolutely nothing to do with the conversation.

Disabled people can be racist because we teach folks to be racist.

The more I want the Jim Henson company to make one where you can see what it's like to be the primary human in a Muppet movie

For example, using devices to give standardized tests is "easier" in many ways but "easier for who?" is still a question worth asking.
