A Dundonian #Star, in more ways than one, is Williamina Paton Stevens or Fleming. Born here in 1857 she went on to help classify types of stars at Harvard College Observatory. These are some copy obituaries and other papers about her life.

Time for a #ChristmasCarol concert. This concert took place in St Marys Church, probably in the 1980s. It is from the Dundee High School collection, so is likely to be the school carol concert.

If you enjoy wrapping your Christmas Presents with a bow and putting them in boxes, the you may want to think about becoming an Archivist. Especially if you are any good at untying knots when those bows have gone a bit wrong! #BoxesAndBows #ArchiveAdventCalendar

Not a particularly festive photograph for our first #ArchiveAdventCalendar offering. But there are lots of #Presents on show at this wedding from the 1940s.

Happy #StAndrewsDay!
Here is a lovely engraving of St Andrews Kirk from c.1836. There's lots going on here. I personally like the cat and dog strolling across the road as best buds.

Street of the Week will return in 2026. What street would you like to see covered? Comment below and we'll see what we can do.
We have been doing these for a few years so there are loads already done, so why not search for #StreetoftheWeek and look for our older posts.
Corporation Tenements in Queen Street, Broughty Ferry. Otherwise known as "The Bull Ring". This images was probably taken c. 1933 just after they were built.

For #TransportTuesday we have a rather laden cart. It is on Perth Road outside the Tay Rope Works, which ran all the way to Magdalen Yard Road.
The photograph appears to be from 1908 as a poster in the background refers to the London Olympics of that year.

For this week's #SundayReading we take a look at our Charles I charter, dating from 1641. Not only is this a very large, important and impressive document, but there is a mystery surrounding it. Mainly about the hole at the bottom...

At the time it was constructed, it was the largest council house scheme built by Dundee Corporation. Due to a drop in the cost of building, the initial rents also made them the cheapest corporation homes in Dundee. Priority was given to tenants living in slum housing.

588 homes were built in 1927-1928 at the Arklay Street Housing Scheme. There were 3 building types stone, brick and concrete. This was partly due to costs but also speed. The scheme is the area between Clepington Road, Arklay Street and Sandeman Street.
This photograph was taken on 17 May 1910 by the City Engineer's Department and shows a tar spreading lorry at the Esplanade (now Riverside Drive)
The lorry belongs to T Aitken of Taroads Syndicate Ltd, 29 St Vincent Place, Glasgow.

A #ThrowbackThursday taking us back to July 1975.
Built in 1892 as North Clepington School, it was renamed Clepington School in 1900, when the other Clepington School was renamed Ann Street School. Just a tad confusing.

For this week's #WhereisitWednesday we actually have an answer. This one took us a wee while to get, so we'd like to see if any of you can figure it out...
It is Dundee, and we think it was taken in 1914.
See if you can work out what they are doing too...π€

Street of the Week: Ralston Road
The name of this street comes from Claude Ralston, who worked as factor for the Earl of Home on his estate in Angus. He was originally from Glamis. Although it was also known as Beachtower Road after the large house on the street (now number 4).
