The UCP government’s budget makes life more expensive for Albertans. The 2026 budget includes increases to:
• property taxes
• fees for seniors living in continuing care
• vehicle registration costs
• registration costs for small businesses
• fees for trade workers to get certified
The UCP squandered Alberta’s near-record resource wealth and still produced a $9.4 -billion deficit—a failure of basic financial management.
Somehow, under some of strongest economic conditions in a generation, life is going to cost you more.

With some of the highest resource revenues since Peter Lougheed, Danielle Smith chose mismanagement over responsible leadership.
Albertans deserve better.

As we approach the Alberta budget, it’s worth remembering that in 2024 Premier Danielle Smith requested increased immigration allocations and backed an aggressive plan to double Alberta’s population.
That was the position then.
Now, the narrative sounds very different.
The UCP government is trying to distract Albertans ahead of a large budget deficit next week.

This morning, I was with community leaders to support the breakfast club at M.E. LaZerte School. We need to support breakfast programs in schools at the provincial level to ensure every child, in every school, can start their day with food so they can focus and learn.

It was a great morning with Dr. Donald Massey School watching and cheering on the Men's Olympic team and celebrating with all the youth. Every time we scored was just a great reminder about why we love Canada and the importance of team work.

It's Throwback Thursday! Tomorrow is the start of the Olympics. This competition celebrates athletes' hard work and the friendships between nations.
I had the honour of being a volunteer at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics—an experience that I will never forget.

I’ve heard from hundreds of Albertans about the growing chaos in our health care system. Emergency rooms are overwhelmed and frontline workers are stretched to the limit.
We don’t need privatization. We need real solutions and proper funding to protect and strengthen public health care.
Expanding our agricultural opportunities will strengthen our economy and build a stronger future for us all.
I am committed to working alongside the agriculture producers of this province to help create the conditions that attracts meaningful investment and supports good paying jobs.
This talk of separatism hurts our economy and creates uncertainty while distracting from real issues like car insurance, grocery bills, housing costs, and affordability.
That’s why I’ve signed a pledge to stand up for Alberta in Canada. I’m an Albertan and a Canadian.
I am opposed to separatism. Separatism doesn’t reduce the cost of living, build hospital beds, or hire teachers. It scares away investment and jobs, and it damages our future economy. I am a proud Albertan and a proud Canadian and we need the UCP government to stand with Team Canada.
