I have spoken frequently about the need for tactical pluralism, for both insiders and outsiders.

This retcon of queer progress seeks to eliminate queer activism, but it also just eliminates queers generally.

In this narrative, progress was created by congress passing laws.

People will get behind effective strategies after you show us they're effective. They'll even pretend there was never any disagreement or doubt.

Let's see less tell-y, more show-y from all you backseaters out there.

Don't wait for the whole community to agree before pursuing whatever you think will be effective, ignore anyone who says you should, and if you're the one trying to tell others what to do, consider simply doing the thing you think will be more effective and showing us how it's done.

Fighting in US courts for a right of gay people to marry their same sex partners was not a consensus move, it just happened to be a winning one.

I'm stressing the contributions of outsiders bc that is what people are intent on rendering invisible. Highlighting the contributions - the messy, sometimes property-destroying, sometimes even violent contributions - of the outsiders is necessary right now.

Don't get me wrong, I still am arguing for tactical pluralism. I am still saying that both outies & innies are necessary for a social justice movement to succeed.

We couldn't even keep things civil within queer spaces (Queer Nation, which I love, wasn't without its flaws: PDX chapter screamed insults at PDX BiNet chapter all through the pride parade for a couple years, bc bi people don't exist, I guess)

If an artist isn't able to visualise their ideas on paper (or on the screen) without the use of genAI, they are not an artist. I know some artists who aren't capable of visualising things in their head, yet they can still create stunning art. I know others who brainstorm their ideas and compositions with literal scribbles and stick figures, only to end up with a beautifully rendered piece. There is absolutely no excuse for a self-respecting artist to use genAI at any point during their process.

Someone over on Instagram saying that genAI is bad for art, but can still be used by artists who have trouble visualising their ideas.
