The Luddites were right.

I guess I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by supportive, lovely souls because that attitude seems antithetical to the whole concept of being a creative. But it doesn’t make sense to me in other areas of life either so 🤷‍♀️

We have a massive obsession with WW2 where yeah, sure, we weren’t the worst guys but certainly committed our own sins.

I dunno, it just feels like we are especially good at cognitive dissonance. Probably not uniquely so but something in our culture welcomes it maybe?

We have trained ourselves to ignore any nuance or horrific actions in any situation to paint ourselves as the hero. We’ve not only never collectively dealt with the genocides in our past we’ve treated them as if they were trivial or non existent or only of their time without long term consequence.

Could be nothing but I do feel like there is a connection between the American inability to recognize anything other than cartoonish, obvious evil and our obsession with the idea that we are the global “good guys”.

I just do not understand creatives who exploit other creatives like this. How can it not cross their mind that whatever attitude leafs them them replace an illustrators work could lead to their own replacement as well?

The studio that made this released some numbers. They had to produce 85 minutes of footage to find 15 usable seconds for this ad.

The machine that creates moving images out of nothing has a failure rate of 340:1 and the best 15 seconds... is this.
