In my spare time I'm volunteering for an ngo that is trying to work towards making it a free offer for any1 to get screened if they are carriers of specific genes that are the cause of some really horrible hereditary diseases which have a v high prevalence in the Faroes

Hungary's leader orders extra security at energy sites, claiming Ukraine plots disruptions
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbรกn ordered extra security at critical energy infrastructure sites after claiming Ukraine was attempting to disrupt Hungaryโs energy system.
Viktor Orban is now 20 points behind in the polls - and so he has ordered the military to guard โkey energy facilitiesโ against a possible Ukrainian โattack.โ Hungarians fear he plans a fake national security emergency or false-flag incident before the April 12 election

I try, but I haven't mastered time travel yet. I assume you mean the dolphin slaughter that happened five or so years ago?

When oligarchs talk of โpersonal liberties and free marketsโ they mean their own liberties to become even richer and more powerful.
When oligarchs speak of โfreedom,โ what they actually seek is freedom from accountability.
Know the truth.

However valid Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is, it would suggest we treat ecosystems as a resource to satisfy physiological needs, and safety needs, survival in effect, not thriving, self-actualization for many of us is immersing ourselves in places of biodiversity and natural earth processes.

Some people can take a moral or spiritual approach which will not persuade but at least frames their own objection. For most of us we are left with a good list of important benefits, and a 'just look at it and feel the awe', we all do, others don't, why they do not is a question.

Fear and Fascism โ STAND UP FOR SCIENCE
I recently had coffee and spent some time with a Big Deal (TM) Psychologistโwho I have looked up to for years and whoโs lab I unsuccessfully applied to for my PhD. It was very wonderful, and I actuall...
"Sure, itโs scary to stand up to fascism, but... there is also risk to a version of the future where we donโt have vaccines, birth control, freedom, science, or a right to vote. Pick your poison: Scary now or scary later"

Interesting! Seems related to what I think of as "solarpunk consilience" - building better systems using difference as strength: a source of insight vs an opponent; reconciliation via understanding vs resolution by cherry-picking privileged sources; crowdsourcing vs argument from authority; etc.

Trump Administration Announces That We Donโt Know Where the Sun Goes at Night
After deciding carbon dioxide does no harm, it was the logical next move.
"You can simply decide to forget progress. Disease is caused by miasma, insufficient beef tallow, corn syrup, the evil eye. You can simply decide to burn coal and witches and books again."
