Pizza & Pipes in Tacoma, WA. They had a wurlitzer organ that they'd play cover songs on (which you could request), and the pizza was really good as far as my memory goes. Place burned down in '99. Lots of good childhood memories there.

I would argue that Whedon is actually good at it (that first Avengers movie balanced quips and storytelling really well, Buffy and Angel also didn't layer on quips to the detriment of storytelling). The larger issue is folks copying it who think it's *just* quips without accounting for character.
