I just wish that, in a year that is difficult and chaotic and we are all overwhelmed, folks could once and for all stop replying all unnecessarily.

I figured out a solution! There's probably better ones, but here's what I found: I created shortcuts using the auto spellcheck function. for example, I created an autocorrect CIT for "Needs citations", so in a comment I just type CIT and it automatically inserts the full thing. It's great.

Hey, people! If you think/write--or want to think/write--about the value and purpose of higher education (particularly in this moment of erosion and attack), please contribute to this special issue! Happy to answer questions :)

Part of my sabbatical plans include creating ways to make my life easier when I go back to teaching full time. I wanted to create macros or something so I don't have to type my most-used comments over and over again when I'm reading student work. But it appears that macros don't work in comments?

I’m heading to ASHE this week and excited to present work from my dissertation on Saturday. My presentation is titled β€œI Never Got to Be Just a Student:" How Latinx Graduate Students Experience Basic Needs. #ASHE24 #HigherEd

#ASHE24, it looks like the weather is going to be as chilly as expected! The daytime won't be too bad, but it will be dipping below freezing at night, so plan accordingly if you're going out. It will not be the same beautiful weather we had last year...welcome to Minnesota!

I am totally overwhelmed by how many people are following me here! So if i miss you, just know that I'm probably just avoiding social media. Also, I'm on sabbatical so generally just avoiding social media.

I've been watching the Minnesota weather for #ASHE24 next week - it's going to be colder than last year! There might be snow! (Though that's looking less likely than it did yesterday). Bring your coats and warm shoes!

We have reached a truly bizarre place in our political discourse when supposedly serious people want us to believe that the party of Trump, QAnon, and β€œGreat Replacement” is the bulwark against antisemitism in America.

What I don't understand is why this week (and this morning specifically) is lasting approximately 70 years, but I feel like I *just* got used to writing 2023, and it's almost time for 2024.

I never really had many metrics to care about, but it still feels pretty energetic over there. I'm definitely not paying money to any of these sites, that's for sure.

The association has limited staff and none of them are super into social media...they want to find the next best spot to reach the highest number of current and potential members. Also...a big chunk of us are all still there...so why would they move?

I agree, tho i think it's a mix of people + the association. I was expecting a critical mass to migrate to another platform and it didn't really happen? I feel like I came up in generation of scholars w/heavy social media engagement, and the vacuum when the engagement isn't there is noticeable

I feel like #HigherEd BlueSky hasn't quite taken off yet (or maybe never will) and it's leading me back to twitter and away from here, particularly with ASHE coming up. I would like more engagement here though!

When we think about that quarter million dollar loan for an RV that a rich friend of his forgave, we should remember also that Clarence Thomas voted against forgiving student debt loans for millions.
