Cork €50m superdump never used in 16 years 'should be sold off' Bottlehill landfill 23km north of Cork City was meant to take in up to 217,000 tonnes of waste per year since 2009

Sounds like a good candidate for #rewilding to me...

Image of an old woman in a green hooded cloak with ivy and holly in her plaited white hair. In the backgrounf is a wintery Irish landscape, a choppy seam Brent geese (who visit Ireland in the winter), and the rock in Beara said to resemble her. There is a deer fawn tucked into the snow as she blows frosty swirls into the air.

An Cailleach brings the winter 🌬️

The mythological figure in Irish, Scottish, and Manx tradition who summons winter, and is associated with storms, reshaping the landscape, and horned beasts like deer. She defies convention and is a force for regeneration.

Which brings us back to my original point, that a debate that engages the electorate on the nature of our military stance and relationship with the EU is so important.

I fear we're ill-prepared to discuss this issue with enough maturity. My sense is that too many Irish people reflexively point to our neutrality as a given, without real thought about what it means.

If the triple lock + EU Presidency can trigger a debate on this, that's a good thing.
