I saw so many of my PokéFriends. The highlight was watching the young kids competing in the juniors and being as excited about Pokémon as I was when I was 11.

I mostly liked F4, but I do think it would've been better as more of an origin story and not had Galactus in it.

It's funny how superhero filmmakers totally misunderstand why people got tired of formulaic origin stories but then not knowing how to still set up an actual character to tell an emotional story without the origin tropes so then you're left with plot but no character. This is not only about F4.

I am purposefully not using the term sequel literally but also differently than how you are using the word successor. The artist is the franchise in this scenario as opposed to just the IP.

for example #2, damon lindelof's the leftovers is a sequel to his show LOST even if they are in different universes and have none of the same characters or premises because the leftovers is about damon lindelof dealing with having made LOST

for example, evangelion 3.0+1.0 can be a sequel to both the original evangelion series and end of eva without it having to literally tie into those movies with a multiverse or time loop

unfortunately, most people only have the media literacy to consider franchises as a chronology of events rather than an artistic expression of ideas that can have sequels that disconnect from the chronology yet are still a direct follow-up to those ideas

Not an actual game, but I always felt the japanese boxes for the Game Boy and GB Pocket had this. I think a key element you might be looking for is less an emphasis on the art itself and more about the holistic "graphic design" of the packaging.
