I suppose what I am trying to say is that there are aspects of neurodivergence that are enviable. For instance “I wish I could be that honest and straightforward.” That’s not a skill I learned or had to fight for, I don’t know any other way to be. But some people would like to be that way!!

Like, we’re not trying to be that, we’re just trying to get through life and figure out wtf’s going on, but I can see how someone who desperately wants to be different and interesting might want to be us.

Everything about myself that I thought marked me out as unique and different from the masses I can now look at and go “oh that’s a trait isn’t it.”

We’re weird and non-conformist and don’t care what’s “cool” which might look to a teenager as unbelievably cool.

There seems to be this panic that kids are believing themselves to be autistic when they’re not because TikTok makes it look cool and the obvious kneejerk response is “that’s insane” but maybe not HEAR ME OUT

you can be angry about and take action against wrongs without exposing yourself to trauma
