This is the video I mentioned a few days ago. Itβs a short look into what actually fuels my inspiration as a Senior Art Director at King New Games.

It is strange how social media filters content. I can post a technical study of a life model, just a back view, and it gets flagged as "suggestive."
Meanwhile, the feed is full of posts designed specifically to be provocative that pass without a word.
Don't wait for inspiration. If the drive is gone, it's a signal to get back to it, no matter what.

If you don't feel like drawing today, you probably need to draw more.
A few signs youβve hit a slump:
- Youβre actively looking for excuses to avoid it.
- Art has slipped down your daily to-do list.
- The thought of starting drawing or painting feels like a chore.
I prefer drawing from life, but it is not always practical for a daily routine. Nothing beats the depth of a live model, though photo references usually win for convenience.
How do you handle your daily practice? Do you make it to live sessions or stick to your desk?
Time-boxing a drawing/painting practice to an hour or less is a game-changer.
It exposes mistakes rather than hiding them under layers of detail.
Practice shouldn't be about perfection... it should be about telling your next challenge.
Had a great time sitting down for an interview about my role as Senior Art Director at Activision Blizzard King. It was fun to step away from the drawing tablet and talk about the creative process behind our projects. Stay tuned for the full video!
23.01.2026 11:24 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Many artists ask me if they need a "signature style" to get hired. On a major IP, I actually look for the opposite. I need artists who can adapt their hand to fit our specific world. A versatile portfolio is often more hirable than a one-style gallery.

I might be old school, but I miss how blogs let you show and tell a story. Paul Richards is a great example of this. His work on Darksiders shows exactly how to do it right (in my opinion).

This is a great way to do it!

Almost missed this one!
Whenever you come to Barcelona @kortizart.bsky.social just let me know. A lot of good food in Barcelona, Carribean included ;)
As an Art Director, Iβm looking at portfolios to hire for my project. Most artists focus only on the final, polished image. I find rough sketches and notes much more interesting. They show how you solve problems and think. Do you include process work in your portfolio?

What do you struggle with the most with your Art?
Be honest π
Even after decades professional artists still evolve and abandon old styles for new ones. Donβt be afraid to outgrow yourself.
Focus on the process, and the style will find you.
π Stop trying to 'find your style.'
Style is just a workflow you can do effortlessly. For beginners, trying to find it too early just corners your potential. This is your time to experiment, make mistakes, and try every medium possible.
Just treated myself to a one-year Schoolism subscription.
Iβm really looking forward to getting back into the fundamentals and trying out some new techniques from great artists.
Happy New Year! <3

Happy New Year! π₯³
Wishing you a great start and time to make great things in 2026.
Next year I want to find a better way to keep my creativity.
I want to make good work without feeling tired or stuck.
This year taught me that I cannot draw every single day and I used to feel bad about taking breaks from my personal art.
My current role as a Senior Art Director on a major IP is often very demanding.
I left X (Twitter) a long time ago, but seeing their new feature that lets users edit other peopleβs artwork really confirms I made the right choice.
Itβs a platform I donβt want to be associated with. Iβm much happier sharing my work here where the community actually respects the artist's intent.
Iβm on a total follow spree. Instagram is finally suggesting amazing artists again, and itβs a huge change from a few months ago.
It proves that discoverability is everything for this community. Really great to be inspired every time I open the app.
Thinking about picking up some Copic Acrea paint markers to try out some mixed media details.
Are they actually as opaque as they claim, or do they tend to clog?
If youβve used them, Iβd love to hear your honest take before I dive in.
Looks like Instagram is showing more art and artists again.
My feed feels human lately.
I really appreciate that.
I agree with that. Building a solid foundation in realism makes it so much easier to break the rules later on... π

If I had to rebuild all my drawing skills from scratch, Iβd do this
Draw every day. Small studies. No pressure. Just mileage.
Learn fundamentals again. Value, light, shape. Tools don't matter.
Share the artworks early. Stay consistent. Improve in public!
What would you do if you had to start over?
