Rather less angry than Chat GPT would have you believe. Also thinner on top. Tries to keep up with sprogs 1-6 and all their mini sprogs. Hopelessly devoted to the Chair of Balham FC. Takes footie pictures. Trying to get back into fencing.

As a pensioner living (modestly) off wealth, I'd just like to point out that I worked for half a century to earn that wealth.

That is all.

But I agree the basic point. The gulf between those who have more than they need and those who have less is the one that matters.

Amen to that!

He was one of countless mediocre, sleazy businessmen who had sex with young adults. Young adults who had been groomed as sex workers.

The problem is far, far bigger than one man.

"I just enjoy pontificating…"

Thank you: I laughed out loud at such disarming honesty.

Me too.

My powerful artificial friends tell me that the After Housing Cost GINI for the UK is currently an appalling 39%. Which is more or less what it was in 2000.

And median real incomes have risen slightly over this period. Whether this has been enough to cover the collapse in public services…

The Gini coefficient in the UK has been pretty flat since 2000. High, but flat. What data are you using?

Not sure why I care. What about the median income?

Why would MPs need to know the policy?

All they need to do is vote for it.

Terrorist or fantasist?

How long had he been doing this?

How many people had he blown up?

We are a long way down the road to Minority Report.

Of course he is a threat. But not necessarily a terrorist. Regardless of the colour of his skin.

Over three next 20 years, Russia rebuilds the Society Union, picks off the central European countries and Finland, dominates the Middle East, threatens Scandinavia and Germany. If we don't rearm at that point, we end up speaking Russian and contributing to the Russian military industrial complex.

As I understand it, LLMs are trained to recognise patterns, and patterns of patterns, and so on for hundreds or thousands of layers, and apply these to the data set. Those CAN lead to new combinations.

Feels like listening to the last few clicks of the ratchet before the roller coaster plumbed into a wild, unpredictable, guy churning ride.

With one key difference: the roller coaster has been safety checked.

I'd probably just go out and buy a local hairbrush rather than getting a trusted one shipped.

But my coif is a lost cause anyway. Others may be more fastidious.

Interesting way to whip his MPs…

Rather wish our PM did something similar. Might be one way back benchers could be integrated into policy and strategy development.

…Whatever else it may be, intelligence is not magic.

For thousands of years, we have been learning that we are not, in fact, quite as special and different as we thought. This could be one more step in that journey.

… Of course a neuron is more complex than a transistor, being affected not just by signals received from other neurons but also by chemicals. But it's not obvious how this makes it uniquely qualified to build intelligence.

That's a nice analogy.

The brain is a complex instrument but in the end it consists of very simple things happening very many times. Intelligence looks like an emergent property of a chaotic system of layers of patterns of neurons.

Intelligence and sentience are not the same.

To refute the argument, you first need to explain the underlying mechanism of intelligence.

This is The Muppet Test of screenwriting, and can be applied to any screenplay. Legally Blonde and Alien pass with flying colours.

Since what media enterprises do is curate narratives, it's hardly surprising that those who embody stereotypes have a role.

LOVED the German Moriarty simile.

And the writing generally, obvs.

And yet they make a living.

Someone is kidding themselves, I fear.

She detected a land mine, uncovered it and jumped on it with both feet.

The data on union, party and club membership is very clear.

I agree that I'm simplifying somewhat. But even the funniest parodies are based on truth, aren't they?

I'm not sure it was just the very rich. Yes, there were a few rich people who bankrolled the leave campaign, but if the people had not felt abandoned, the backers wouldn't have gotten very far.
